I have had the need to urinate more often than usual. a while after i finish drinking something i have to hurry up and go to the bathroom. this has never happened before. i can usually drink a bottle of water and not go to restroom for quite some time. now as soon as i'm done i'm already up to go to the bathroom. also when i urinate and when i'm almost done i feel this pressure right above my pubic bone like i have to push. i'm due to start my period today or tomorrow. is it too soon to take a test.

What can I do next?

Besides what everyone else is saying, peeing frequently could also be a sign of diabetes. But hopefully it's not that.

Sounds like you might have a bladder infection or a start of a yeast infection, A doctors visit needs to be done. Don't wait to long if it is a bladder infection it could get painful the longer you wait to go to the doctors.

Good Luck

I'd say it could go either way. You could be pregnant or it could be a UTI. You can take a test this early. Just remember thar everyone's body is different and a negative doesn't necessarily mean you aren't pregnant. It just means you don't hav enough HCG to make it positive. I'd take a test and see, but also make a doctors appointment.

It sounds like you might be preggo or the start of a bladder infection. Hopefully its the better of the two. I think you can take any pregnancy test, the first response say it detects earlier than others but i think they are pretty much all the same.
Good luck and Congrats if you are pregnant!

No you can take one... I think that it's either clear blue easy or first response that will detect before your period.

You might have a UTI - have you ever had a bladder infection before? They symptoms you discribe are usually the first signs. You should get tested by your doctor, as an untreated UTI can travel to the kidney and really cause trouble! Good luck, L.

Hi I.,
There are tests out there that work up to five days before you're due for your period. I took one (my breasts had been killing me) and though the line was pale, it was definitely there. I took another a few days later (still before I was due to start) and the line was even darker. Now I've got a beautiful 7-month old. So go out and get yourself one (read the package carefully) and good luck!!!

When I was trying to get pregnant, I bought a three-pack of the early response tests because I knew I just couldn't wait until after my missed period. So I got one negative when it was probably too early to tell anyway, but it made me feel better to have done something at all. Then I did it again on the period day.

It probably seems sooo silly to do that but I was just so impatient!

It sounds more like a urinary tract infection. Cranberry juice, and lots of water. I believe it is necessary to take antibiotics for it as well though. Sorry if this is not the news you wanted. God Bless!

I am not a doctor but you sound like its the starting of a bladder infection. Buy some Cranberry juice and drink that for awhile. Dilute it with water if it is too sweet. If the problem persists after a week, and you are concerned I would go to a doctor to make sure you don't need a perscribed drug.

I don't know if you've already discovered what's up or not, or if anyone's already mentioned this, but if it continues and there is no obvious reason for it, you may want to look up Interstitial Cystitis. It took me several months of frequent urination and bladder pain (first with an infection, and then without) and visits to several different urologists before I finally found someone who diagnosed me. I was drinking cranberry juice and doing all the things recommended for bladder infections which turned out to be making things 100 times worse. I ended up being on a special diet for over a year and now I'm pretty much back to normal.

I don't think your pregnant I think you have a blader infection, which means you have to pee all the time and you get the burning feeling. It doesn't always feel like a burning feeling more the urge to contract your muscles to pee more. See your Dr. right away for some antibiotics, before it gets worse and you can't do anything because you feel like you have to pee the minute you have pulled up your pants. If the Dr.'s office tells you they can't get you in today, tell them you have a blader infection and you can't stop going to the bathroom, that it's killing you. They will usually get you in today or tomorrow. Be prepared to Pee in a cup when you get their because that's how they test you, and it has to be more then a drop.

Good Luck!

No it is not too early to take a test. But if you dont' get your period i suggest that you go and have a blood test done at your doctor.
But witht he symptoms that you are describing I would go to the dr. and tell them what is going on and have them do what ever tests that they think need done. Could be a UTI. (Urinary Tract Infection)
Good Luck

you can take a pregnancy test as early as 10 days after conception. It doesn't have to be an early resonse test. They all do the same thing. Good advertising though. I actually bought a First Response and a generic one (I like to experiment) for my last pregnancy. I was tracking my ovulation so I knew about when conception occured. I took the First Response first thing in the AM and the line was SO faint you could hardly see it. Anyone else would have said it was neg. I took the generic one next and it was a bright pos line....Good luck!

hi I.,
well they say you can take a test up to 5 days before your period...so i would take one.if its negative and you still havent gotten your period in a few more days, take another.the best time to take one is first thing in the morning, the longer you pee has sat in your bladder, the longer the hcg hormone has had to collect in it and the more accurate the test will be.have you ever had a bladder infection or a uti? (urinary tract infection) this can also give you the sensation of having to pee all the time, and alos the pressure you mentioned.its tricky,it has a lot of things similar to pregnancy.
i hope this help and good luck!

My first thought was UTI or bladder infection. If you've never had one before I would see the dr, just to get a clear diagnosis. Heck see the dr anyway, they'll probably run a pg test on you just to make sure. Good luck, I hope you're pg and not at the start of an infection.

as much as I would like to say take a pregnancy test, my urine related pregnancy symptom was that I would get up every night to pee. Never during the day. My medical impression is that you have a UTI. You have "frequency", feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, urgency. Do you have pain? Any blood in your urine? It may show up as pink right now. I would just have the Dr take a urine sample. They can dip it for UTI and Pregnancy. Definitely drink cranberry juice and water. A TON of it! Good luck.

Hi I.,
You can take a pregnancy test from the day of your missed period on. Some of the at-home pregnancy tests you can use before (they advertise 5 days earlier) but it can be a little less reliable.
Also, from what you're describing--increased urinary frequency and the pressure above your pubic bone, I would check with your doctor to make sure you don't have a urinary tract infection as those can be the symptoms. If it gets worse many doctors will call in a prescription over the weekend so that you don't have to wait till Monday with all that discomfort. Good luck!

To me it sounds like a UTI or a bladder infection. I will say though I had that feeling at the beginning of my pregnancy, but I also found out I had a UTI at my 1st prenatal vistit. Better get it checked out.

i have to agree with a lot of the responses (also it was my first thought) is that it could very most likely be UTI. I too have dealt with UTI and at first wasnt sure what the problem was until i had seen a doctor and was put on meds. as for taking a test...you can do it now if you like...though always best to get a 2 pack...take one now and take one in a couple days if you still dont start your period. though from what i understand (i may be wrong) but frequent urination during pregnancy usually doesnt occur till later due to pressure being put on the bladder. if you have frequent urination before you have missed a period...the suspect would usually be UTI. best thing you can do either way is go see a doctor and the doctor can check both for you. well...good luck.

The urine pregnancy tests show results for the HCG hormone, most over-the-counter tests are not terribly sensitive so they don't detect the hormone until a couple of weeks after conception usually (it always took me forever to get positive results out of those when I was pregnant). There is a website early-pregnancy-tests.com that has very sensitive tests and they aren't terribly expensive, but then you have to wait for shipping...
Your doctor's office may have the more sensitive tests if you want to try to get in to the doctor.
Happy waiting!

It sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection with the urgency and frequency you describe. Any burning or odd smell to your urine? UTI would be my first thought, especially with the complaint you voice about pressure and wanting to "push". Do you have a MD that works on the weekend, or who you can call? They could order a urinalysis and you'd know pretty quick if it is a UTI and you could start treatment so you'd feel better.

This sounds like a urinary tract infection. A UTI might be present in addition to a pregnancy especially if you do not urinate after sex but it is most likely just a UTI. You should see your doctor if it persists as you may need antibiotics. And about the pregnancy test, I believe you can take First Response up to 5 days before yuor missed period and be accurate.

Hi I.
It seems that you got a bladder infection. try drinking lots of cranberry juice. You can also buy "AZO" which works in the form of a natural med that works in your bladder for pain & makes it easier to urinate to "flush" the bad stuff. You can find it almost at any store over the counter (Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens etc.)

Hi I., I am in the 3rd month of my 4th pregnancy and it is not to early to take a test at all. I took 3 tests for this pregnancy about 3 days before I was to get my period because I was having the same symptom as you. Just make sure you take them early morning, first bathroom trip when you get up because it always has the most pregnancy hormone in it. Hope this helps, God Bless, H. A.
