Portable DVD Repair
I have a panasonic portable DVD player that we bought for travel just a year ago. Now it will not read any DVD's. Target will not take it back and when I called Panasonic, they said I could return it and buy another wholesale (which by the time we pay shipping is close to what we originally paid for it). Does anyone know of anyplace in the DFW area that will do repairs?

Try Le Electronics in Carrollton (Josey @ Rosemeade). Mr. Le repaired all our electronics that were hit by lightning when our insurance company told us they were a total loss!

Try Best Buy Geek Squad. You can bring it right to the store. I think it will be more expensive then buying a new one though. Try cleaning the lens with a lint free cloth.

I would guess that having it repaired would cost almost as much as buyint a new one. You'd probably be better off buying another one and then it will have at least some warranty with it.

I assume that your talking about the ones that you attach to the headrest so your kids can watch dvd's.
If that is the case...we went through 2 and they would stop working after less than a year. They just would not charge anymore.
We ended up paying $700 and just had one installed into the roof of the car. Works great!!! I just have to put the DVD in and it starts playing on its own and I dont have to deal with going through the menu. When you turn off the car it starts in the same place you left off. I love it! Love it! Love it!!!!

Hi S.,
I don't know of anyone that does DVD player repair. I'm thinking the cost of repair would be more than the cost of a new one.
Unfortunately, we are on our 3rd DVD player. I just always look for the sales.
Sorry,

I agree with the last post I don't think there is a place that will repair them. We just had to send ours in to get repaired last month (got it for Christmas). When you buy a new one make sure to get the extended warranty. You should look at Sams Club and Costco they usually have some pretty cheap and the extended warranty is around $15.

Hi there!
well, i am sorry to say that we have had about every kind of portable dvd player in the book over the past I don't know how many years...AND unfortunately, they all do the same thing yours is doing! Some have lasted six months...some 1.5 years :o( kind of annoying. I have looked into repair just b/c I was usually leaving for a trip RIGHT when it died.
