Gas. I had electric at the last place we lived and didn't like it as much. It took a lot longer to boil water.

I have electric smooth top cook top and like that but gas is better to regulate and I guess most professionals like it better for that reason. I hated gas for one reason and that was when I had little kids and at that time the controls were on the front where kids could get to them. That was not safe. Now I guess they are up higher too. I think electric takes much longer to heat up and that I do not like.

GAS baby.

Have you ever seen a chef cook with ELECTRIC? NOPE...you haven't and for GOOD reason. Gas is MUCH more controlable unlike electric.

Gas. More control, it's off when you turn it off, can light it manually if power goes out.

I have a gas double oven and a gas cook top.

When we first move here the stove and the double ovens were electrric. I have a gas heater and had an electric water heater. The gas company in this area has a minimum charge for being hooked up to gas. I was paying the minimum amount for 6 or 7 months each year. Thatr meant I was wasting money every time I didn't use enough gas to rise above the minimums. Now I'm above the minimums every month and I figure I'm saving at least $75-$100 per year every year. I've already paid for the appliances. The best part is that it so much better cooking with gas instead of electricity.

Good luck to you and yours.

I have an electric but prefer gas. I think gas is better at alternating temperatures and when it is off, it is off. With my electric stove, the low setting is really too warm. For this reason, I use a rice cooker instead of a stove to make rice and I use a crock pot for beans instead of the stove. I can't make either of these items on my electric stove without them turning out disgusting.

gas... :) I've had both - I prefer gas...but it's gotta be the oldschool ones that you can still light when the power is out - that way we can have hot cocoa if there's no electricity. My reasoning would have to be based on chocolate in some form or fashion - go figure. :p

I have gas. I had electric in all of my residences up until this most recent house purchase. It took me some time to get used to cooking on a gas stove. I burned things. Now that I am used to it, I think it is great. That said, I wouldn't have a problem going back to electric. No preference for me. My husband, however, prefers gas.

Gas! I love the instant control of the heat.
