Has anyone gone through this? Savannah this last week has been falling or tripping all day long.she is 22 months old an never has fell before,this all just started. Yesterday we had a party for my older dd an she fell so many times. I just had her at the eye dr 3 weeks ago an they said she was good. she shows no signs of ear infection either other than digging her finger in her ear, everytime i go to peds she says there is no infection an she is just fine. what else could be going on it's really starting to worry me?no she does not need new shoes i don't think it has anything to do with the shoes.
Our peds thinks its due to her molars coming in. will wait a few weeks an see what happens thanks so mcuh for the responces

It may just be she is clumsy...How old is she? My youngest daughter (8) is very clumsy and falls all the time. It has gotten so bad sometimes, whenever we go anywhere she bets us she won't fall this time, or asks us how many times we think she will fall, doing so also makes her a little more careful because of course she has to prove mommy and daddy wrong.
Could she need new shoes? My daughter NEVER complained that her shoes were too tight, then suddenly she would fall again and again. That is how I figured out she needed new shoes.
Could her shoes be too big?
Some kids are just clumsier than others.
My Daughter did the same thing at 18 months. She would just fall down. Barefoot or with shoes. She also would stagger backward if she was standing still. The peditrician did an MRI to rule out a brain tumor first thing. Since that was clear, we were sent to an ENT to check her inner ear to see if there was a problem. By that time she had stopped falling.
The pedi said it is possible that she was having headaches-possibly migranes-because they do run in our families. He said that at this age there is nothing they can do for migraines.

Does it seem to you like she's having trouble with depth perception? How are her visual perceptual skills? Can she find objects in a messy situation? What about her fine motor skills, does she use her pincer grasp? Can she stack blocks? Can she string beads? ( I know, it seems weird that I'm asking this, but bare with me...)
You can call ###-###-####, Alliance for Infants and Toddlers, and they can come and give her an OT eval. Sounds like it may be in order, especially given your insistence that it's not the shoes...I totally believe you, and I understand why you needed to say that.
My daughter did not use to be very clumsy. Around her second birthday she got very clumsy. She could be walking on hardwood floors and trip for no reason. My doctor said that it can be from trying to hurry while still walking. I don't know if that is true or not but I have had her ears and eyes checked. I have even changed her shoes many times. She is still clumsy at times but not all the time like it was. She is 3 1/2 so hopefully it is just a phase. I know this probably doesn't help a lot, but just wanted you to know she's not the only one.
