Playing in the River for the Day?

Hi Mommas-
I live in St. Charles, MO and was wondering if anyone knows of a place that I could take my 3 year old son just for the day to play in the river. I don't want to camp overnight (need to save the money) but I think he would enjoy swimming in the river and playing around for the day. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Go to Indian Camp Creek off Hwy 61 just past Wentzville. There is a creek that you can take your chairs and even a cooler. The kids wear water shoes and play. It is pretty cool. You can google it to see the website. Have Fun!

And be sure to stay away from the MO or MS rivers. they are extremely dangerous and dirty. Lots of disease...

Oh gosh please don't take your son to the River it's soooo dirty. And I'm speaking from experience I also live in St. Charles. We use to go to the river every weekend until my kids kept getting sick and then infantigo. That was it for us plus the river can be so dangerous with undertos, if you want to kids have just as much fun playing in a sprinkler. Also some other free/fun things to do check out your local library they have age app. activitys for kids also on Wed/Thur at 10 a.m. you can go to the summer special at Wehrenberg Theaters and see a kids movie for free. Check out Stlmoms.com for more great ideas they usually can tell you of more things too do.

We go out 44 to the Huzzah (Sullivan). It crystal clear and shallow. Most places are only about knee high. The kids throw rocks and splash around and absolutely love it. It's only about an hour from STL and much cleaner than the rivers around here. Be sure to wear coast guard approved life jackets, even in the shallow water.

Kids need nature! Don't take them to another movie or spend more time indoors. Allow them to explore. Just watch them very carefully!

Please don't take him to the river! It's too dangerous!

I don't think you could take him to a river and it be safe
and it's not worth the risk.
