I have the perfect group for you. It is called Lorain County Stay at Home Mom's. It is on meetup.com, http://sahm.meetup.com/1797/. We have playgroups at each other's homes, the park, storytime at the library, playtime at the mall, Mom's Nights Out, etc. Tell them R. Walls referred you to the group.

I am a single mom of a 22 month old and would love to know if you find any play groups for this age group. Unfortunately I could only attend if they are in the evening or the weekend. But I would love to find some more kids his age. He is an only child.

Welcome to Avon! I know how it is to live far from your family. My mom and sister live in Detroit and my brother in LA. I started a playgroup here in Avon. We are a small group with 4 members so far with a total of eight children ranging in ages from 2 months to 10 years (two school age children are out for the summer.) We sometimes meet in Avon at the Church in the big community room where the children have lots of room to run and play in the cool shade! We have a tent, tunnel, parachute, slide and large blocks for them to play with. We read stories and have snacks and crafts as well. Sometimes we meet at the Discovery Works at Avon Lake Public Library, a pool or wherever we think will be fun for the little ones. We all make decisions regarding the group together. It's not just a playgroup - us mom's need time for ourselves as well! We are getting together on July 5th to do some scrapbooking without our little ones, we are trying to do something like this once a month. We meet on Wednesdays from 10 - 12 p.m. I hope to hear from you soon!

Have you thought about joining a Mom's group? It is a really great way to meet people. We have a great MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in Bay Village and there are several women from Avon who belong to it. You can get registration information from www.mops.org or you can look at the Bay Presbyterian website (www.baypres.org) for our actual chapter's information. You do not need to be from Bay Pres in order to join. I was new here four years ago and I have met so many great moms (and kids) through Bay Pres MOPS. Our meetings are on alternating Mondays (Sept-May) and wonderful childcare is provided. The registration deadline is Aug. 21st.

You can also join your local early childhood PTA. I am pretty sure that Avon has one. Google "Avon Early Childhood PTA" and see if you find anything.

Both of these groups will help you meet women and get you hooked up with activities, playgroups, etc. Good luck!
