Planning a First Holy Communion

Our 7 year old daughter is celebrating her First Holy Communion this May.
I was looking around to see if I could get ideas on what you need, how to celebrate, planning etc. I didn't see anything. Anyone have any ideas to share on how they celebrated. We are planning a sit down brunch. The mass is at 10am and plan to book brunch for 12pm. Not sure about decoration etc. I'm not so sure about what we need for the church either outside of the dress, and veil. Share your First Communion Day ideas with me. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Update: Well so far, we were somewhat disappointed in the schedualing. Our school used to have a mass for the school studens as a group and CCD students made their commuion in separte masses. Now the group both and scheudaled 8 mass with 14 children per mass. The children at the school have been together since kindergarden and were looking forward to taking their first holy commuion as a group.
They scheuales were set up alphabeticly and alot of them are separated.
I know its not a group thing. It's an individual thing, but we were disappointed.
We tried to reschedual but it turned into a struggle so we just left it alone.
More to come

first of all, congratulations to her :)

I remember having a knee length white dress and a veil/tiara. well, that was definately not recent! :) I think that they would have some info for you from church as far as the attire goes. Also check with the church for the length of the ceremony so you can book your hall at a reasonable time according to travel time, etc.

Have you thought about invitations yet? I would love to create some handmade invites for her First Communion... or help you to create them!
I also offer handmade/handstamped Favors (if you decide to do that). Check out my site and let me know if you are interested. Everything is customizable and if you don't see it, I can create it!
Post how the planning is going. :)

First communions are usually very simple. Its good idea to have a brunch right after. party city has great plates and decorations that are appropriate and all you need is the veil and dress for the church (and flowers)

Good luck - enjoy!

You probably won't see any decorations until early spring. If you are planning the brunch to be held in a restaurant don't buy anything until you know what they allow. If it's for your home you'll find a wide variety of balloons, streamers, banners, crosses and other religious symbols. You shouldn't need anything for the church especially if she is making communion with a group. Some churches have each child make a banner and these are displayed around the church (the church will provide you with instructions). Children are asked not to carry anything such as flowers and no gloves during the ceremony but again you'll get all that info from the instructor at your parish. Watch your church bulletin for announcements about communion events such as meetings, measuring, etc. Relax and enjoy the ceremony - it's really beautiful and congratulations on this milestone in your child's life.

Ok my daughter just made her first communion this May and it was great....First off i come from a very strong bunch of Italians in my family so naturally this communion was a big deal....I planned way ahead of time....my family really wanted me to have her dinner in an italian restaurant but i decided i didnt want to do that....My daughter and i love this peruvian(sorry if i mis-spelled it) restaurant and how its decorated and the prices are decent...so i decided to have her lunch/dinner there...naturally my family was a little disappointed but were thrilled of the outcome....i bought a few decorations that were pink with i believe from partycity and a few balloons....it was great and the food was great and everyone had a wonderful time and friends and family actually sent me emails the next day telling me how wonderful it was.....my daughter made out very well in terms of gifts and money and bonds.....we took lots of pictures...good luck and tell me how it goes
