Our family is relocating to Virginia. We are now packing and we will be flying on Saturday. I am selling a lot of things on craigslist but I know that some things will just not be sold and I would like to donate them. Is there a great place that would accept all kind of stuff (We won't have to drive around from place to place). Many places seem to be restrictive in what they accept. Things that we may donate include:
- regular, maternity and nursing clothes (from new to worn out), baby clothes
- electric breast pump, like new ,
- crib and other pieces of furniture
- high chair, very good condition
- food (from our emergency preparedness kit, so non-perishable at least not expiring before Christmas)
- toys

When a friend of mine moved away, they donated a bunch of things like you mention to a women's shelter in Mountain View. When I google it, though, I get two results in Mountain View. Perhaps if you call, they'd direct you to the right location.

Support Network for Battered Women ###-###-####
444 Castro St. Ste. 305
Mountain View, CA 94041

Support Network for Battered Women (800) 572-2782
1975 W. El Camino Real Ste. 205
Mountain View, CA 94040

Hope that helps, and best of luck in your new locale!

The Ecumenical Hunger Program in East Palo Alto ( http://www.ehpcares.org/ ) provides household assistance beyond just food, and would be happy to get the things that you mention. They're located at 2411 Pulgas Ave., East Palo Alto, CA 94303. They might even be able to pick it up:

There is a Goodwill store on El Camino Real in Mountain View which accepts donations. It is located at the border of Sunnyvale between a restaurant (Chalateco or something like that) and an empty Ethan Allen store before Bernardo.

You might try Shelter Network. They are a non-profit that helps families newly homeless get back on their feet. The closest shelter might be in San Mateo. I donated a lot of things there when I lived in San Bruno. They are truly a worthy cause, though. And they can always use baby things.

Goodwill and Salvation Army don't always take everything (unless you just 'dump' it there on off hours) but HOPE services pretty much takes anything and you get a tax break. I know they have a center in Santa Clara but not sure about any place else. Whenever I have stuff to donate I just give them a call, place the stuff outside and they pick everything up. Perhaps you can look them up on-line? Good luck with the move!

Post it on the free section of craigslist and let someone who needs those items in your neighborhood have them.
