Pirate Party Ideas

Hi Moms!
I am planning a pirate party for my soon to be four year old! Any tips, advice, or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Please tell me what you did or what you would do!
Thanks,
N.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas! We had an excellent time! We played pin the patch on the pirate, shoot "canonballs" at the ship, and we made nautical picture frames. It was a blast!

N.,
We had a pirate party for my 10 year old this year. The most popular thing with the kids was this:
I got small wooden boxes ($1 each) from Michael's and glitter, markers and jewels for them to glue on. Everyone made a "treasure chest" and I gave them all chocolate coins to go inside.
We got Pirates of the Caribbean eye patches, prizes and decorations at the party supply store (in OP near Babies R Us). We had a delicious pirate cake from Publix, which said "Ahoy mateys, Happy Birthday Captain Caitlin." We also had pin the patch on the pirate, but it wasn't nearly as popular as the treasure chests.
Just be creative with it and have fun. I looked around on-line and got a lot of creative ideas and then just did what worked best for us. It can be as complicated or as simple as you want it to be.
One other idea I liked that we didn't use was to have the kids come up with Pirate names for all their guests and give them Stick-on nametags with pirate names. (Like Captain Caitlin, Scallywag Sam, etc. You can even have the kids come dressed as pirates.
Good Luck & Have Fun,

We did a similar party a couple of years back. The biggest success was the treasure hunt. We hid the "goody bags" in a treasure box out in the yard. Then we made up really simple clues for the kids to follow. It took up time and the kids loved it!!! Also, we made the invitations to look like treasure maps. We cut up brown paper bags and crumbled them up. Then we drew the map to our house using the infamous big X. One the other side we wrote all the information. Then we rolled them up and tied them with ribbon. All of the parents thought I had spent a lot of time, but it actually didn't take that long (with my husbands help)

Hi N.:

For some FUN entertainment without breaking the bank have you checked into the kids doing a Party Animalz:The Stuff & Fluff Workshop with a pirate outfit? It's cool and the kids can take it home with them so that beats spending a lot on trinkets for a loot bag.

For any fun occasion that you're needing some easy entertainment check out Party Animalz:The Stuff & Fluff Workshop. Read the reviews, they come highly recommended too:)

A friend of mine recently had a pirate party for her 4 year old. She made little treasure maps and the kids had to find burried treasures at the park. She also gave the kids eye patches and blow up swords. Although she says if she had to do it over again she would not get the swords as they were a distraction. She also had a ship pinata. Good Luck!
