Pink Eye - Murrieta,CA

Might be irritation and might be pink eye-- but if it is pink eye, she cannot go to school or preK until it is gone. If it is pink eye, it is highly CONTAGIOUS. And it appears she probably wants to scratch them. When I was pregnant, they used erithromycin ointment rather than the drops on my eyes -- it went away, but I looked like I had shiners. Pink eye (the actual thing that is contagious) is caused by a bacterial infection and does need antibiotics in the eye to go away. I kind of think you and your husband must have had some sort of irritation but not actual bacterial conjunctivitis if yours went away with simple contact lens solution (unless it has antibacterial functions as well).

Has she been sick? My youngest gets goopy eyesbwhen he has a sinus infection. You should call your ped because if it is pink eye the most common type is bacterial which of course you need the antibiotic drops for where adults generally get viral pink eye which you can't do much for except treat the symptoms in which case the muli purpose saline solution for contacts would help or your eyes could have just been irritated.

Call your doctor. Pink eye can be cause by either a virus OR a bacteria so the antibiotics are not always the cure. There are OTC drops for pinkeye that I got the last time my kids had it and it worked great. Our doctor actually rarely will treat with antibiotics anymore so as to avoid the overuse of them and usually the other remedies clear things up. BTW, a couple of weeks ago I thought I had pinkeye myself but did not have the burning that normally comes with it but my eyes were super red. Instead of treating for pink eye, I treated for dry eye (different OTC drops) and that did the trick! Good luck!

Must be going around! Our daughter had it last week. Took her to the doctor and they prescribed eye drops, which began working immediately. Her doctor told us to keep her home from school from school for 24 hours after beginning the drops. Def. take your daughter in to the doc.

Ha Ha to funny, not really for your daughter. I woke up with pink eye this morning too. I am actually getting ready to leave work to go get a script from the doctor. My eye isn't really red per say, but there is a ton of yellow green goop coming out of it. It is also crusty under my eyelashes. Every time I have been to the doctor with pink eye I have always been told that it won't go away by itself you need medicine.

I wish your daughter the best as I know exctly how she is feeling right now. I'll update my post when I get back from the doc. :)

Update: Just back back to work from the doctor and was given eye drops to take 4 times a day for 7 days. I dropped off the script at the pharmacy, but don't know how much they cost.
