Pimple like Spot on Scalp?

About six weeks ago I got what it looked like a subcutaneous pimple on my scalp and I tried to pop it couple of time delaying the healing process. Now I still feel a tiny squishy something there and the area is red. I have seen my doctor this morning and he said it's nothing to worry about (he said it is not a growth, mole or anything similar), just some scar tissue and a tiny cyst, but definitely nothing serious and that it may take another 6-8 weeks to completely go away. If it does not go away in three months, I need to go back to the doctor, but he was confident it won't be the case. Any insights on this are highly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Mine seems to have decreased in size, right now it feels like a pen point, squishy, not hard, nor tender, and the area around it is a little red. No history of skin cancer in my family.

Well, I guess that's why the Dr told me it will take another 6-8 weeks for it to go away.

Welcome to mamapedia!!

Listen to your doctor. If he felt it would go away on its own. Then just keep an eye on it.

My dad had something behind his ear that looked like a small black head. In three weeks time it has grown to 7mm wide and 4mm tall - it was sqamous cell carcinoma. He had it removed last Friday. All is well.

Unless you have a history of skin cancer? I would just keep an eye on it and NOT try to pop it again.

Good luck!

My husband sometimes get blocked hair follicles and it looks like a pimple. he was told to leave them alone and they do go away on their own. Picking on it can make it worse and infected. They usually last a month or 2 when he does leave them alone.

I've had this several times on various parts of my body over the past 50 years. Often it's a pimple I've squeezed and it's become irritated. It takes our bodies that long to absorb the fluid in the cyst. It's nothing to be concerned about.

Glad you had it checked out, but definitely keep an eye on it. My teenage daughter had a random pimple on her forehead near her hairline/temple area. Over a few short days, it became red and inflammed and filled with pus. Everytime she popped it, it would become enlarged again with pus. The doctor had to lance it and collected a sample. Turns out is was MRSA infection - of all things. Now every pimple she (or I) get has me super worried. Pimples used to just be harmless, ugly bumps. Not anymore.

Perhaps it's an ingrown/infected hair? I'd advise simply leaving it alone for a while, as messing with it too much will probably just introduce more dirt/oils and make things worse.
