Photography Project Participation

Can I get any more "P"s in that title? Ok ladies, I've started a photo project that relies on people submitting photos via facebook/email & have had a fairly decent response so far. The subject is a celebration via photography, poetry, and quotes of the powerful friendships between women. We all have those friends that are "as close as a sister" and this is what that celebrates - SisterFriends. This is something I've thought about doing for a while & am finally going with it. One of the goals is to publish a coffee table book.
Informal poll: is this a gift you would consider giving to your sisterfriends? Would it make a difference if you were featured in the book or would the mere idea intrigue you? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Thanks all.

p.s. - no trolling here :-) real person, real question, not soliciting or attempting to "drum up business"

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your input. I can completely understand about the random people aspect. The photos I'm intending on using for the actual book are more of an artsy type rather than just a couple of people staring at the camera while the facebook page is one where those types of photos are more common.
I know that term isn't one that everyone loves but since it's my project & I like it better than "girlfriends," it's the one I went with :-) Hope you all have a good day!

Not something I would submit a photo for or purchase. If I wanted to celebrate my "sisterfriends" as you put it with a photo book, I'd want it to be more personal than a generic women's friendship coffee table book. I'd make a book that was all personal pictures, with anecdotes, poems, sayings, inside jokes, stories that were personal via Shutterfly or a similar site.

Nope. Wouldn't buy it. Wouldn't participate in it. Friendships are personal. What you're proposing is not. I don't like cloying schmaltz. Sorry.

by the way - HATE the term "sisterfriends." Feels very condescending and childish. Do men use the term "brotherfriends"?

Not sure.

Two people could do the same thing and one could be a hit and one a miss.

I think because it is so easy to order nice photo/coffee table books at Costco, Shutterfly and so on, I do not think I would buy one of random people. These people may all be YOUR friends and meaningful to you, but not to everyone else. I had a step in-law relative create a similar thing and sent them out to her family as a Christmas present. Unfortunately we were laughing a bit saying who the heck is that. Other family members were hurt because so-and so was left out. What would have made sense thinking about it is if her family made her ONE of the people important to her instead of her printing out 15 or so as gifts for others.

If this offer came through a legitimate source that I could check out then maybe but if it's just an individual then I'd probably decline.

What I might do is see a book at Hastings or some other place like that and read stories and such then see "If you want to submit a story to us and perhaps be selected by our publisher to be featured in a similar book please contact us using the following options".

Maybe your first book could be people you actually know or that live in your town.Taking out a classified ad that you're looking for sister stories might bring in a few more.
