Personalized Gift for 17 Year Old

We would like to get a small gift in appreciation of all the help a friend's daughter did for us on vacation last week. She is 17 and has a unique spelling to her name. Her mom said that she loves anything that has her name on it spelled correctly. Since we spell my daughter's name differently we know how hard it is to find her name spelled correctly, so I thought it would be great to get her something. But what do you get a 17 year old girl that's personalized? I'm looking to spend around $30, but if it's something that is really great, I'm willing to go up to $50.
Thanks.

What can I do next?

Personalized duffle bag. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/63911?feat=506681-GN2 As long as her name isn't more than 10 letters you can have it engraved on the bag. They come in lots of fun colors and she will use it for years. Short trips, sleepovers, college, etc. I had one when I played sports in high school more than 10 years ago and I still use it. LL Bean products are also good quality.

They also come in bigger sizes, but this one is $30 plus $6 for the monogram.

My daughter's name is spelled "normal" but not a run of the mill name like Susan or Mary so its not always in the stuff with names on it. She too occasionally likes little things with her name on them. I always did too at that age (still do for some things) as my name is a common name, but spelled different..I am N....no e on the end).

My dd got a thick luxurious towel set in a deep red color with her name embroidered on it that she loved. Many years later and its still in great shape. She takes it to sleep overs and the cabin and wherever she might need her own towels set!

One of my faves as a teen was a nice wallet with my name on it..like a "grown up" wallet. If you know this teen is to be traveling, maybe a fancy passport wallet with her name?

For friends over the years, I have gotten cool wine glasses, coffee mugs and other beverage glasses with ther names either engraved or at one shop locally you can buy ready made or order specific spellings of a washable painted (very cool and colorful) designed drinkware of all sorts...then I fill them...with coffee or coffee giftcards, fave tea bags, or even just candies (usually my deal). These are a great "I appreciate you" gift I love doing and personalizing. They are always well recieved!

Some I have seen use as a candy dish at home after...or a penny jar...or for the coffee or martini/margaritas its meant for...one took hers to work and said she always keeps a few fresh flowers in it on her desk (it was a tall cup). I just love that they use them for something, anything and remember me when they see it!

Good luck!

I third (?) the keychain. My daughter really pimps up her keychain, so girls that age do like cool keychains.

Check out the jewelry boxes in the Pottery Barn catalogue. They are beautiful and I love mine so much (small one) that I have given them several times as gifts!

I second the keychain idea. That is the age where she is already or will be driving and a nice engraved keychain would be great. I had a terrible time finding things with my name growing up.l Now if I went to Mexico or Italy I probably would have been fine but here? No such luck.

I got several towels with my name embroidered on them for high school graduation and loved them. Perhaps that would be some thing she would like for now and her future.
