Perpetual Diaper Rash

Hello ladies. I have a 2 year old w/ a rash that won't quit. I've tried triple paste (and bunch of other creams), cortizone, calendula, almond oil, castor oil, cutting juice out, adding lots of water, changing bath wash and leave his diaper off as much as possible- which is rough because he's not poddy trained.

Help if you can- anyone else go through this?
Anything I haven't tried--

What can I do next?

Thank you so much for your responses. I think it is yeast related so I've started with Vagisil Wednesday and it seems to be getting better. I also switched to some all cotton diapers from Better Health Store- they are really expensive- but we haven't had to fight him to get a diaper on.

I have a 2 year old who also has had a rash for about 2 months now. I can get it calmed down, but certain things make it flare up and get blisters. My doctor precreibed a cream called Nystatin, and then Magic Butt Cream. The magic Butt Cream is a mix of Mylanta, Desitin, and the Nystatin. I have also quit using baby wipes, and that seems to help. I hope I could help.

You can cut a strip of polar fleece and line the diapers with them. There great for keeping baby's skin off the wet cloth diapers, or disposable - just don't toss the fleece. And makes cleaning even easier. Just pull both ends of the fabric at the same time (over the toilet) and solids pop right off.
Or maybe it's a food allergy?
Good luck, A. H

Try Gold Bond Baby Powder. That is the only thing that would clear up my son's diaper rash. I tried all the creams and non of them worked. The powder worked though.

Baby Gold Bond powder. I am willing to almost promise you the rash will be gone almost by the next diaper change, but definitely by the next day. Creams have never worked for me, either. Just make sure that you take precautions not to do the powder near baby's face so that they will breathe it in.
Raisins and other dried fruits seemed to be the culprit when my kids were that age.

Could it be a food allergy?

I always wash my 2 year old son's butt with regular soap, Dove or Irish spring.(Instead of the baby wash) After, I dry really well and play "PUFF PUFF" with Johnson and Johnson's powder. We make a game out of spilling powder on his butt and "Bo-Bos" and rubbin it in. He NEVER has any kind of rash. Ever. Either I have been extremely fortunate or stumbled on the cure. My husband says I WASTE powder, but I am not going to change a thing. It works for us. Hope you find something that works for you. Good Luck!

have you tried butt paste? this is the name it is sold under and it works wonders! however, if this does not work, you will likely need to contact your pediatrician for their advice and possibly a prescription.

Try getting vitamin E capsules and pricking them with a needle and squeeze onto rash. My parents swore by it with me and now I use it with my girls and love it!

Have you talked to his pediatrician? My daughter had the same problem. It ended up being a rash caused by yeast (happens fairly often after a child has an antibiotic)Which is why none of the treatments for normal diaper rash didn't work. My daughters pediatricain prescribed plain nystatin cream. If his rash gets worse or stays the same with diaper rash cream but gets a little better if you leave it dry or just use powder it's a god chance it's the yeast. I'd take him to the doctor. Well, good luck, hope I helped.
