You can't have a period and be pregnant. A period is when the lining of the uterus sheds because there was no implantation of a fertilized egg.

But you can have bleeding in early pregnancy for a variety of reasons. Some completely harmless and others more serious. If you begin to bleed more than a pad in an hour that when there is cause for concern and you would want to head to the ER.

Give your doc a call on Monday and see what they recommend.

Best to you!

You CAN have a period and be pregnant. I know this for certain because I had a period when I was pregnant with my second child. No, the bleeding may not be heavy and it may be a shorter bleed time but you can bleed and be pregnant!!

Just be patient and wait until you see your doctor. You can get a false negative but not a false positive as home pregnancy tests measure HCG ~ a hormone that increases when you are pregnant. No HCG = no pregnancy.

I went my entire first trimester thinking I wasn't pregnant because I had a light period each month. I would definitely go to the Dr. and have it checked out. They would normally schedule you for the first ultrasound to verify the pregnancy and see how far along you are if you have had a positive test. Let them know when the first positive was so they can gauge when you need to come in. Good luck, I hope you get the news you are hoping for.

I've read that some women do have a period the first month or two of pregnancy. There is no way of knowing for sure either way until you see the doctor. They can do a more reliable test.

From the number of tests you've taken, I'm guessing you want to be pregnant very badly. I suggest that you find a way to let go of your anxiety and trust the process. I've heard of "false" pregnancy test results. I do know that our emotions affect our bodies and wonder if your anxiety could be creating a false positive.

Push this out of your mind and focus on other things. Hard to do I know but possible.

Well, its not your "period" because that would be medically impossible if you are pregnant, but you can for sure have bleeding while pregnant. You may be having a very early miscarriage or you may just have some bleeding due to other causes. Either way you should give your doc a call and make an appointment. Tell them you got a positive test and are having bleeding. I wish you the best!

I'm pregnant with my second and have had period like bleeding through my entire pregnancy. The baby is fine, growing like normal so my doc says its nothing to worry about. It could just be some bleeding from implantation or like me it could be from who knows what.
Hope everything is ok, good luck to you I'm sure everything is fine:)

It could be a few things... you are preg and the baby is embedding itself in uterus, you could have a chemical pregnancy and just started your period, or be preggos. I have heard of women having period like bleeding while they are pregos, especially early on like you are....Good luck let us know

i, as well, had a period for THREE months during my first pregnancy, which is why i had no idea i was pregnant! it can happen. when i finally thought maybe i was pregnant, i went for an ultrasound and the dr. said "ummm, this baby is 12 weeks old" (WHAT?!). anyway, were you able to go to the dr. yet? best wishes!

I had some bleeding very early in my pregnancy, and I thought it was a period, and this caused me to not realize I was pregnant until quite late. Then, right after I found out I was pregnant, I started having heavier bleeding and was convinced I was miscarrying. Turned out I had a cervical polyp that actually bled off and on throughout my pregnancy. It was annoying, but there was nothing wrong with the baby. They are evidently fairly common. But, only a doctor can tell you for sure what it going on.... so good luck!

Edited to add... the home pregnancy tests work best if you take them first thing in the morning because the hormones are more concentrated in your pee.... so that's the best time to pee on the stick, even for the tests that say take any time of day.
