I am looking for a pediatrician for my first baby, due in March. I live in Park Ridge and would like something close to home if possible. Any recommendations? My doctor suggested Park Ridge Pediatics or Suburban Pediatric in Niles, but I don't know much about either other than her referral. Thanks!

Hi MK,

My son is almost 4 and has been going to Park Ridge Pediatrics since he was born. I really love the doctors and nurses there. (Receptionist is not the most charming person, but the way I look at it is she isn't treating or dealing with my son). GOod luck!

My son goes to Dr. Frank Belmonte at Lutheran- the Yachtman Pavillion. He is so personable and great with kids! He even personally called me when I had a concern!! He cares about kids- and you can tell he enjoys his job...he is also a Dad.

My 4m old goes to Park Ridge Pediatrics and I looove them. They were recommended by the head of cardiac pediatrics at Lutheran General and that is like the highest recommendation you could ask for! Park Ridge Pediatrics has good office hours and hte nurses have talked to me for a half hour sometimes answering all my questions and are so patient. When they give my son shots 2 nurses come in and give him their shots at the same time so they don't ahve to stick him more than once. They have a lactation specialist too; actually I think they have more than one I just always get the same one. I can't say enough good things about Park Ridge Pediatrics! They handle my son sooo gently. They warm up their hands before picking him up, they're so friendly and happy and kind,... great place!

I go to Luthern General & the name of the practice is Advocate--my sister-in-law goes there with her 2 twins & so does my cousin with her son, & one of our tennants with her son--everyone is extremely happy with the practice--my doctor is Doctor Crawford--I switched to her this year due to my ped moving out of state--to make a long story short, my daughter was born 3 1/2 months pre-mature, so I am extremely picky about her doctors & I am due with a second in April & will be taking him/her(?) to Dr. Crawford also--they have about 8 peds at the practice & an open clinic every morning for sick kids & can usually get you in that day with one of the doctors if it is an emergency--real happy with the practice. Here is the number ###-###-####. I had a situation happen with Park Ridge pediatrics when my daughter was due for release from Rush University Medical Center--you have to have all records & peds talk to Neonatalogists before release which I called about 1 month prior--they said call the week before & we will be all set. I called the week before & the NP informed me they were no longer taking new patients & I explained about already talking to them--this didnt ring a bell to anyone--they said one of the doctors was on maternity leave-- (wouldn't they have known that one month prior?) rather than making me scramble the week before my daughter was released from a lengthy hospital stay & was very in need of medical attention--she was on oxygen & a heart rate monitor--anyway my sister-in-law said come to my place--they couldnt have been any more helpful & they took care of everything--I must have sounded stressed, I didnt make one more phone call. I gave them the numbers & they took care of all discharge from Rush__thats what I needed at such a crucial time. That is the reason I would refer you to this practice.

Hi,

Congrats on the new baby coming along! I live in Park Ridge and go to Park Ridge Pediatrics. I like the office b/c it's comprised of 4 women, various ages and styles and they run like a well oiled machine. I've never waited for more than a few minutes for an appt - they are very efficiently run (scheduled sick periods, and well periods so you don't have a bunch of sick kids around your healthy kid...)for visits, and somehow avoid the back up I hear about at other offices. I like a couple of the docs better than others but have my kids see them all so they aren't scared of any of them. The nurses are great too.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I switched my son to Park Ridge Pediatrics after I didn't really mesh well with the first pediatrician we went to who was affiliated with Resurrection/Holy Family. I really like the doctors at Park Ridge Pediatrics, I am very happy with their practice. As a matter of fact we just took our newborn son there yesterday for his 1 week visit and I have no complaints. They are all very nice and make you feel comfortable. I especially like Dr. Hrycelek, she is a tell it like it is type of doctor and I really like her manner. But all the doctors I've seen have been nice.

I asked a lot of moms I know on the northwest side of Chicago and suburbs and based on their overwhelming recommendations I went to Park Ridge Pediatrics.

Hi,

Before we had to switch pediatricians due to health insurance change, we went to Parkside Pediatrics located in the building adjacent to Lutheran General. Our dr. was Frank Roemisch and we absolutley loved him. My baby had severe allergies and was diagnosed with asthma at 2 and had been hospitalized in intensive care numerous times and Dr. Frank was fantastic through all of this!

Hope that helps!

Hi, I can vouch for the recommendation on Park Ridge Pediatrics. We took my son there when he was first born on a friend's recommendation and loved Dr. Lisa! Can't remember her last name, but she's probably still there. I think her last name started with a V. Anyway, the only reason we're not still there is that they didn't accept my husband's insurance that he had at the time. The staff was friendly, and we really liked Dr. Lisa! Good luck.

I second the nomination for Parkside Pediatrics, which is located in the Parkside Building attached to Lutheran General Hospital. When you call with a question, you always speak directly to a doctor - nurses are not allowed to field these calls, because the docs want to make sure you're getting good info. There are only 2 docs - Dr. Frank Roemisch and Dr. Patricia Stec. They are both great and my girls love them. I switched when my oldest was 2 and I was expecting my second. I was unhappy with my ped., and asked around. Parkside Pediatrics was overwhelmingly recommended to me. Also, if you have an emergency during off hours (that is non life threatening), they ask that you call them first. Because their office is connected to the hospital, they may be in the hospital checking on a patient or doing rounds. If they are, they will talk with you to see if it makes sense for them to meet you at their office rather than subject your child to a visit to the emergency room. Also, the nurses are very sweet and caring.

Dear MK, I have a pediatrician at Resurrection Hospital. His name is Dr.Youhana Yoseif and I think he is an excellent pediatrician. My sister told me about him when I had my first child almost 11 years ago and I think he is great. He is somewhat an old fashion kind of Doctor. If you call to make an appt or have a question he might even answer the phone. Nice guy and great doctor. My cousins and even co workers go to him. Check him out. Good Luck and Congratulations. Sleep now for you will never sleep again.....LOL!! Not like you did before you had kids anyway.

We use Suburban Pediatrics in Niles. We love them- they have Saturday hours for check-ups (they fill up quick though, so book in advance), the doctors are nice and knowledgable, they are on staff at Lutheran General (where my daughter had her ear tube surgery and was held for observation when she was 30 days old for a fever), and the nurses and staff are quick to respond to requests for referrals, document preparation (like physical forms or food allergy forms), questions about medications etc. Every referral we have gotten from them has worked out great too - like a pediatric ENT and an allergist specializing in children. The only drawback is that there are a decent amount of people in the practice and you do not know who you will get until you get there...even though you might have a preference.

MK,
We LOVE our pediatrician group out of Lutheran General Hospital--it's right in Park Ridge. They're located in the Yachman Pavillion (spelled that all wrong). They have a wide variety of days and hours. We have seen many of the doctors in the group as our daughter had a couple of illnesses just after birth. They're knowledgable, patient, and down to earth.

Hi MK!

I went to Park Ridge Pediatrics when I was little, and now I have my 20 month old there as well. They have been great about getting us in for appointments and listening to my concerns. If you are delivering at Lutheran General, they will come there to see the baby at the hospital after he/she is born. If you have any specific questions, feel free to write back to me!

I had to do the same thing when I was expecting my baby this time last year. We interviewed few of them and finally set on the Advocate Medical Group, situated just behind the Lutheran General Hospital in the Yacktman Pavillion. We see Dr Belmonte there, who is exeptionally awsome! But all the other doctors are great too! This is why I like it there:
1. They are all nice, from the receptionist, nurse, to the doctors.
2. They have 9 or 10 doctors so you can always be seen by a doctor without having to wait for weeks.
3. They have a walk in hour in the morning so you can be seen without any appointment.
4. You can call and talk to a nurse anytime for extra advice or questions
5.They are open on Saturdays which comes in very handy.

I would suggest you call them ###-###-#### and ask to interview few doctors. Good luck to you!
