Hi -

I am new to Lake Zurich area, and I am looking for pediatrician for my two kids. I had narrowed it down to two practices - "Pediatric Care" (Dr. John Beckerman and others) and "Children and Teens" - Barrington location. Just looking to hear about your experiences with above mentionned practices. Specifically, I am wondering:
- do you see a specific doctor of your choice (=same doctor at each visit), or any doctor available?
- what is the typical wait at the office?
- how difficult is it to get late afternoon or Saturday appointment?
- are there separate waiting areas for well and sick kids?
- if a child is sick, would he be seen on the same day?
- any problems dealing with billing department?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I go to Children and Teens in Algonquin and I love, love, love all the doctors that we have seen!!! They have seperate waiting areas for sick and well children, have always been seen on the same day I have called on a sick day, I have never waited more than 15 minutes for a scheduled appt. and have never had a problem with the billing dept.. As far as seeing a specific Dr. on every occasion, because the Dr.'s work at multiple locations that might not be an option all the time, but every Dr. I have seen (and with twins who are almost 3, I've seen almost all of them) has always pleased me. I would definitely recommend them!!

I am with the Children and Teens in Barringotn and I also love, love, love Dr. Megahed.
No real issue's with a wait time, billing or getting an appointment when I want one....
I always schedule enough in advance that I get who and when I want. If it is a sick situation, then I take whoever I can get.

Children & Teens

We take our 2 1/2 y/o and 11 week old there. I just switched to them in February due to a change in our insurance . To answer your questions:

When you make your appointment, you can choose what doctor to see that is available that day (or the nurse practioner). If you want a specific doctor, I suppose you could call and request. I never have, though.

The typical wait at the office is about 15 - 20 minutes. They ask you to get there 15 min prior to your appointment time to check in and verify insurance, address, make co-payment, etc.

Late afternoon/Saturday appointments - as long as you are making your appointment enough in advance, they have always been able to accomodate me on timing. If you are making a sick-child appointment, you have to take what they give you - obviously.

Yes, there are separate wait areas for the sick/well children.

Yes, I have had my son(s) there on the same day I called or the first thing the next morning if I called late in the day.

Never a problem with the billing yet.

Hope that helps.

Megahed, love him. Don't like some of the others.
Barrington location has just seperate sides of a large room for sick/not sick. Wait at the office i go to is about 5-10 min. No billing issues. Same day sick calls. Don't know about saturdays, but i think its the barrington office that has more sats available.
