Pediatric Dentist North County

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind traveling out of North County for a good dentist and it doesn't have to be a pediatric dentist. My daughter turns 3 soon and I plan to take her to the dentist. I like the laid back easy going kind of Dr's. I don't want a Dr who will push for x-rays, unless I feel it is needed. We plan to pay out of pocket, as we have no dental insurance.

Anyone have a dentist they just love or their child loves?

~~~~Also, I'm looking for a dentist that welcome's parents in the examining room. Most that I've researched, don't allow it or say they don't want parents in the room. I am just uncomfortable about this~
So What Happened?
I still haven't made the appointment yet but I have already made several phone calls and found a few offices that I like. Now, I'm narrowing the list down by what they charge as we have no dental insurance. So far the cheapest is $122 for exam, cleaning, and flouride. The most expensive is $164. Urgh, why the difference!
Hey Becky,
I have finally found a pediatric dentist that my children won't scream and cry when we go and visit. It only took me 4 years to get them in the chair. We see Dr. Applebaum in St Charles. He also has an office off of Olive right at 270. I'm sorry I don't have his number right now, I can't find my phone book but you can look it up on line. Hope this helps.
My daughter has been going to the same pediatric dentist since she was around 1 (she's almost 4 now).
The dentist's name is Candace Wakefield and her office is on West Florissant (just a mile or so south of I-270). She used to offer complementary exams for new clients, so you may want to ask about this.
They have games and fish tank in the waiting room, DVDs in the exam rooms and give out special treats to the kids after their visit.
Hi Becky, I believe you don't have to travel outside of North County to find the kind of dentist you are describing. Dr. David Wagner on McDonnell Blvd(close to I270 is just this kind of dentist. We love him,his phone number is ###-###-####. His office is decorated kid friendly and all that work their are very nice. He's about the best dentist our family has ever had. Hope you give him a try. Also another plus about him, he is runs a tight ship and is almost always on schedule. I love this , how often do you go to a dentist/doctor's office and get taken at the time of your appointment? Good luck!
We see Dr. William Marcuzzo in Wood River, IL, and he and his hygenist are just great with kids. My son was almost 4 when I started taking him and they put him right at ease.
Have you research the office called Dental Kids? It is currently located on Lindbergh(West of Jamestown Mall). I am not sure what their philosopy is about x-rays, however the office is very laid back and the dentist is quite "a character". To inquire about them the phone number is ###-###-####
My husband is a family dentist in Hazelwood. Typically bitewing xrays are taken every 2 years and full mouth xrays are taken every 5-7 years. Xrays show decay between the teeth that cannnot be seen otherwise. (usually,unless there are problems, he doesn't take xrays on the smaller children) He is generally very conservative with treatment plans, however, children as well as adults do need regular cleanings and checkups. You should be brushing your childrens teeth with a toothbush and toothpaste made for children 3 & under at least 2x per day.If you are interested in becoming a patient, I will be happy to give you his office information. He has been practicing for 25 years now and is treating 4th generations of the same families his father saw when he was practicing dentistry. If you would like specifically to see a pediatric dentist,Dr. Andrew Kim also has an office in Hazelwood and is a wonderful dentist and person. ____@____.com
I have a dentist that I have had since I was 3/4. I am now 25 and just started taking my 6 yr old as well (it was a long process with not having insurance etc...)
We talked about it for about a week or two before and she couldn't wait to go. She did great! His name is Dr. Paul and he's in chesterfield off of Woods Mill Rd. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like the number :)
Our dentist is not a pediatric dentist, but he's treated all my kids for about for many years and we love him. It's Dr. Dennis Munson. He's on West Florissant Road. He's in a strip shopping center between New Halls Ferry and Dunn Roads. It's right across (to the side) the street from the bicycle store... up from the emissions place. He has four kids of his own, so he really is good with kids. Colleen, his assistant is good with them too. My youngest bit her (youngest is 18 now) when she went the first time (age 4). Collen still laughs about it. The receptionist and all, are very friendly. He took over for a pediatric dentist who moved to St. Charles. His name was Dr. Parrot. You might try looking him up, if you don't mind the travel. I'd bet he's still in practice over there. He was VERY good with kids. My son had to have a filling once, and I asked him if he'd gotten a shot first. He said no, he got an 'injection'. It didn't even hurt. Haha!
I take my daughters to Dr. Rosenberger at Woodland Dental on Shackelford Road. They are very good. In fact, my 12 year-old had to have 4 fillings and never knew she got a shot. My younger daughter didn't get x-rays until she was 5 or 6 because she did not want the cardboard thing in her mouth, but they didn't push for it. We also have no dental insurance.
