Pediatric Dentist in Shawnee Mission Area
My son turned 3 last month and I would like to take him to his first dental appointment. The problem is I can barely brush his teeth without him kicking and screaming. He use to let me get in there and help him brush, but not anymore. If I let him try and do it himself he barely moves the brush around and just bites on it. I am looking for a pediatric dentist in the hopes they can make it "fun" enough so his first experience will be a good one. Any referrals are appreciated. Thanks!

One thing you might try is getting one of those spin toothbrushes, they have some that play music too. My kids love them.

i have used Glenn Hemberger DDS since my grown kids were small.

His office is set up for kids and when my daughter was three she was like your little guy. They took her back to the office and i soon heard her singing! when she came out she was happy and laughing and told us she went to the moon! Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) does wonders for scary stuff!

Drs. Leblanc and Jenkins are at k-7 and Shawnee Mission Parkway. They are great and their office is really fun. Video games, ice cream, fish etc

Jenkins & Leblance ped. dentist. they are great!!!!!!!! my boys are 5 and 3 we have been there 2 times now. the first time they did not want to go but when we got there they didnt want to leave and are so happy to get to go now. the office is really fun,they have wii games and video games to play. movies to watch while on the chair. when you leave you get a token to get a toy,you'll get a bag of fun stuff and a ballon. and they give them a cup of ice cream as they are leaving too.My kids think thats the best part.

we have only seen Dr. Lablanc and he is sooooooo nice and great with kids.

Dr. Hemberger is incredible! He was my pediatric dentist as a kid and I loved him. He was always good about explaining what he was doing so I felt comfortable, and he was very funny - he would include my nose when he counted my teeth, etc. He is also an orthodontist, so when I had to get braces, I didn't have to go to a different dr. I'm planning to take our daughter to him this summer when she turns 2. Good luck!

Dr. Edward Martin at 435 & Roe is GREAT! The staff there is awesome and my son loves to go. He has been in business a long time and is great.

Our kids go to Dr. Nicole Hawkinson with Pediatric Dental Specialist in Leawood. They have a brand new office and it is very child friendly when you walk in the door! My kids love going there. My daughter had a fear of the dentist at one time but Nicole and the staff turned her around and she does GREAT now. Still a little anxious when she has to go but much, much better.
