So What Happened?

Thank you for all of the responses. I ended up taking my son to Dr. Stratman in Humble and she and her staff were wonderful with him. He didn't really care for the whole thing but what 1 year old would! LOL!! Thank you again for all your help!

Hi C.,

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wheeler in the Woodlands. He is really awesome and his staff is WONDERFUL. I called so many times with a ton of questions before I ever even made and appointment and the receptionists were so patient and kind.

His office is tailored to children, which is evident as soon as you walk in the door. Video games for the kids to play, books to read, children's movies playing on the tv. The back office is wonderful too...they have flat screen tvs mounted on the ceiling so the kids can watch movies while they are laying down for their exam. They even give the kiddos headphones. They also give the kids a goody bag on their way out.

My own dentist recommended Dr. Wheeler to me when I was asking for a pediadontist for my daughter. You can look on his website: www.jonpwheeler.com or call them at ###-###-####.

Good luck & hope that helps!

We used Dr. Julie Martinez in the Woodlands for many years and loved her. The office is kid-friendly with movies, books, bright colors, etc. Stickers, pencils, toothbrushes given out, etc. Our ridiculous dental insurance considers SEVEN years old to be considered an adult and would not cover pedi. dentists any longer so we had to switch. However, when my then, 8 year old daughter had to have 4 teeth pulled as we prepare for braces the "adult" dentist would not touch her! We brought her back to Dr. Martinez and we paid out of pocket. Worth every cent!! They did an amazing job! They know exactly how to deal with children and took us step by step through the process of sedating her, etc. My daughter wizzed through it. Anyway, I'd highly recommend her. Her office is located at 9006 Forest Crossing Drive, Ste. A.

I second Dr. Matthews (by Jill)...NW Med Center Area. The staff is so friendly, and Dr. Matthews is the greatest. It is all about the kids with Dr. M. Your child might be able to sit on your lap for his first cleaning.

My DD is almost 20. Dr. M sees young adult patients. Soon we will have to say good bye to Dr. M. That makes me sad. He;s been her DDS since she was 3!

Scott Andersen in The Woodlands is THE BEST!!! He's on the east side of the Panther Creek shopping center. When we moved to TW 15 years ago, we started with Judith Ragsdale. She wanted to fill 2 of my daughter's baby teeth (cavities) and I just thought that was going a bit overboard. Scott goes to my church (didn't know he was a pediatric dentist until a couple years down the road) and I asked him the Sunday after Ragsdale told me this - he looked at Rayna's teeth and said there's no need at all - she's going to lose them within the year and they're not touching any other teeth. Needless to say, we never went back to Ragsdale!! My daughter LOVES Scott and can't wait to go get her teeth cleaned!!!

Craig Brown on Kuykendahl just south of 1960 (if he's still practicing) was great with my kids (now grown). If he's retired, I'm sure the dentists who took over for him are good, too.
