Ped Egg

Anyone used one of those ped eggs? I have VERY dry heals and don't want to spend the money on a monthly pedicure when my nails are really hard. Any feedback would be appreciated. I don't want to waste the money if they only work on "normal" skin. Mine is tough and cracked.

I agree with Amy. The key is salicylic acid. You can either use an acne clearing product like Stridex or I use Kerasal. You will not need to use the Ped Egg or any type of foot file if you use Kerasal. If you use it morning and night for a week you will see a huge improvement and then you can just use it once a day for maintenance.

Skip the ped egg (I've tried it). Try this: at bedtime wipe each foot with one to two stridex pads, slather them with Vaseline, and put a pair of socks on for the night. I got this from an Oprah show and it REALLY works! The woman on the show said to do this for seven nights and cracked heels will be gone. I used to have very dry/cracked heels before doing this. I have never even done it for seven consecutive nights! I manage one to two nights per week and my feet look better than ever! Try it - it's cheap and works!

I got one and it didn't work for me. I just bought a pumice stone to use in the shower and my feet are extra smooth now. I use the pumice stone then regular lotion and my feet now feel great!

I am a nail technician and I advise against it. You can take off way too much with it. Your skin makes those calluses for a reason, to protect your feet. IF you remove too much of them they will grow back and grow back even larger and faster.
I would advise you to get a foot file and lightly file them a couple times a week and invest in a good moisturizer, maybe one with some alpha hydroxy.
I also have a great home remedy...
take sea salt or sugar mix it with either olive oil or coconut oil until it is pasty and gritty. Massage that into your feet as you are getting out of the bath tub (the soaking helps loosen the dry skin) rinse with cool water and pat dry. Put on fluffy socks and let the oil soak in overnight.
Good Luck!

I bought one of the ped eggs & the previous post is right, it made my feet worse! They are VERY dry & cracked and I have not been able to find really anything that helps. I'm considering going to a Podiatrist & seeing if there's anything I can get to help. I would not waste the money. I have found applying a ton of vaseline to them & then putting on fluffy, comfy socks overnight helps a little bit.

Bag Balm...you can get it at Walgreens. It comes in a square green tin. Use it at night on your feet and put a pair of socks on. My friends daughter used to play volleyball and her feet were cracked and even would bleed. I told her about it and it worked so well that the whole team started using it.

I have the same kind of heels you are talking about and it drives me crazy. I have not tried the ped egg but I went for a pedicure (I've gone several times) once and the lady was woderful . She actually took some kind of shaver and shaved off the dead dry skin then she filed or sanded them and put lotion on and they were like new again. Then I just had to keep up with filing them until I went again. It was GREAT. However I went to another place recently and they would not do that( I don't even know if they understood what I was saying) my heals were just as bad when I left then when I went in. Good Luck

Hi G.,

I've used the ped egg but wasn't all that impressed with it. My boyfriend had the worst dry cracked feet in the world and did some research online to find out some simple solutions that would work and save money. He started using vick's vapor rub on his feet and let me say, they are softer than mine now with little to no cracked skin. I believe he said he actually got this advice from Dr. Oz on the Oprah show. Either way, it's been very good to his feet. Try it and see if it works for you. Oh, you have to put socks on after you put the vapor rub on your feet. If you can't sleep in socks, then try it in the morning. Oh, and just as an fyi, for his nail fungus he uses bleach on his toes. I'm telling you he has the cutest kissable looking feet now! Outside of the bleach smell, maybe they actually would be kissable. LOL! Good luck.
