I need advice! My husband and I hv been trying for 6 months (on and off) w help from meds and then suddenly got prego the ONE month we had taken nothing?! Took it as a gift from God :) But then at about 8 weeks we had a miscarriage. My specialist dr wants us to go bk on the meds to get prego. It will cost us $1,600 out of pocket! I do not want to keep hving miscarriages...but need advice? We may try a month on our own (been on BC for two months now) and then pay for the cycle? I know God can still do miracles, but I also know He can work thru meds. Thoughts??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So we decided to try on our own at least the next two months. I'm really bad at tracking my fertility, and with PCOS you ovulate late...which can also be why we had a miscarriage due to an unhealthy egg? No telling. I'm only 28 tho, I think we have some time. Just hard after you get your hopes up with getting prego after trying for 6 months, and then ending in the baby passing. I'll take all the fertility advice (I've heard musinex can help?) and tracking advice for PCOS any of you have :))

I'm not following you...it sounds like you can conceive on your own (without medication) what does conceiving while on medication have to do with having miscarriages. Miscarriages, said to say, are just so common with or without fertility treatment. (I miscarried at 7 1/2 weeks).

Now if the $1600 medication was necessary to prevent a miscarriage then I would take it. If the $1600 is so you can get pregnant, then I would try again on my own since you know it is possible and if time was on my side (ie I was younger than 35 yo)

I have to agree with JC, it sounds like you don't need medication to get pregnant.

I'm sorry you've experienced a miscarriage. I am fortunate enough not to have experienced that. I wish you the best on that. I can't imagine what you are feeling and going through.

I agree with JC and Wild Woman on what they said as well. If the medication is to keep you from miscarrying, yes, I would take it. If not? I would use it to pay off bills.

Two things that "worked" for women I know who had a diagnosis of PCOS- going on the pill for several months until things were regular, then going off and immediately trying to conceive, and losing 10% of body weight.
I have no idea what your situation is or if either would be appropriate or healthy for you, just some other options to discuss with your doc if you have not already.
