Part Time and in Home?

I could use some advise from all of you skilled moms...

I only need care for my little guy 2-3 days a week, but I NEED hours that are longer than 8-5 - I work in St. Paul (right on the river, so there is nothing around me) and live in Bloomington. Because I'm who will most likely pick him up in the evenings, and some mornings drop him off, longer hours are needed because of my commute. My husband's hours are wacky, but he only works Wed-Fri. Daycare centers are big $$, and i love the idea of a homey atmosphere, but I cannot find a home that offers part time care for the hours I need.

Any advice? Either an in-home solution, or a center that has a homier feel? I'd also love to save some money- looking at paying $248 for three days a week- (yikes) - but I'll pay it if that's the best option.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everyone! I love the advice, especially the idea of using a SAHM. I'm going to use the center for the short term, but will continue to search for a more permanent solution.

I am a stay at home mother of 3 and I watch 2 other children part-time. I would try that route. Maybe some one you know who would want to make a little $$. And I Know the times I go to thier house to watch them is nice for me b/c my husband wathces the kids so I can get a break. I actually got my job from looking on craigslist. I know that freaks some people out ,but I believe that thier is a perfect match out thier to wacth you little guy and if you the stay at home mom sitter, I would still hold an interview, and meet her children too.

You could try a stay at home mom that would be more flexible and willing to watch him later in the evenings for a few days a week. Try that route, I know they're not licensed but there a ton of moms out there that would be willing to do it to make a little extra cash.

H. my name is M. and I'm currently working on my licensing for child care but in the mean time I can help you out if you like. Feel free to call me and I'll inform you on everything you need to know. ###-###-####

I know a woman who runs a home daycare that does all hours. She has been doing daycare for a long time, and is from Mexico so she is bilingual. She is near Augsburg. It is called Captain kids daycare. I think if you googled it you could find it. I've never actually been to her center so I can't tell you anything good or bad, but I know her and her daughter personally. She is a very sweet, woman who loves children and has been in the business for a long time. Otherwise, I myself have been doing research for daycare and have found a few centers that do evening care as well. Just keep researching you'll find something. Check out moredaycare.com It is a mom owned business that helps you find chidcare. good Luck!

Hi H.,

I have an in-home daycare, filled full of hugs and kisses, along with structure, singing, arts & crafts, huge private fenced back yard to play and MINUTES from St. Paul. I know you said you work
in St Paul on the river. I am just on the other side of 61 off Shepherd rd (also known as Warner Rd). I am not sure what hours your looking at or days, but I am pretty flexible with my hours and if you would like to hear more from me feel free to call me at ###-###-#### or email me at ____@____.com
Well gotta run, hope to hear from you.
S.
