PART 2-- Seeking More Advice
Earlier today I wrote about how sad I was with naming my #2 son... he is currently nameless
My first son is Jack-- a name we loved from the start. Its my husband's grandfather's name. Its a strong classic name and fits with our last name Berger.
My grandma recently passed away and I wanted to include her in this baby naming-- her name was Helen R.
We decided we liked Hudson Ryan
But Im not sold on the name.... as of yet :)
My husband had another grandpa-- named Nick (Nicholas)....
So I started thinking that we could name both boys after his grandparents. And use the middle name after my grandma-- Henry.
Nicholas (Nick) Henry Berger
So-- Im seeking you pinions and thoughts...
Do you like one over the other? One have more meaning than the other.... if you were to pick one, which would you pick.
My husband and I have feeling traditional names, along with Jack... not sure of that matters.
I wish this was an easier decision-- who knew naming a baby coiuld cause so much distress and sadness.
Thank you Ladies for all your help. Hugs to you all!

I vote for Nicholas Henry. I love the name Hudson Ryan, but Hudson Berger sounds like something on a menu. You have to think about what people will call him. Nick Berger is just cool. You said you wanted opinions!

I vote for Nicholas Henry Berger. It has a great rhythm and a strong family association. I know how hard it is to choose a name. We just had our third and I thought the poor child wouldn't even have a name for the first year of her life! We did come up with a name & we love it. Go with your gut.

Nicholas Henry Berger.
Just an intuitive impulse.
Best of luck- his name will be perfect for HIM.

I've read both of your posts...and being pregnant is alone stressful without needing to stress over naming the baby! My husband and I decided to give our second set of twins middle names after our deceased grandfathers - one was Cecil (my little guy - Xavier Cecil, and the other for my little girl, Ray(e) - Kaelyn Raye)...I think the idea of honoring your grandmother is fantastic and think that Nicholas or Nick is a more standard name - but both names flow well with your last. We had two names picked for each baby - and then after saying them both for a week or so I just "knew" which would fit them - while I was pregnant...my suggestion is to give it a little time and then see which one you gravitate towards...
Take care and congrats on your second little guy!

Hi, J.!
Congratulations on the impending arrival of your baby boy #2. We, too, picked my then-husband's grandfather's names: Henry and Ben. Ben's middle name is after my favorite great-uncle, Roy. Henry's middle name is Austin, after my ex's antique car he restored, an Austin Seven.
We really liked Henry for a name, because there aren't a lot of them. Our oldest is an Evan. I really liked your maiden name (?) Holten as a name!

I like all of the names you've mentioned. I also like Henry Nicholas Berger (with the names reversed). I am also one for naming my kids after people in the family who mean a lot to me.
Both my kids have their own first names (Noah and Malia) and they both have TWO middle names that represent family members.
Noah Wayne Kalani (Wayne is after my FIL and also my hubby's middle name). Kalani is Hawaiian for "of royalty to represent my Asian and Hawaiian background.
Malia Mieko Kyung-Hee. Malia is Hawaiian for Mary after my hubby's Grandma Mary (Malia is her only great granddaughter). Mieko, after my Japanese Grandma, and Kyung-Hee is my Mom's Korean middle name.
Just go with the name that you and hubby both like, whether it's because it's a family name or you like the meaning of the name, or you just like how it sounds.

I think Henry Ryan is a very distinguished name. Kinda goes along with Jack. How many months do you have to go? Maybe something will just pop into your head. Sleep on it, pray on it. The right answer will come. Try not to stress over it. It's not good for you or the baby.

J.,
Both names, Nicholas and Hudson are both great strong boy names. Hudson is not as common, which is why I like it. I like names that are different yet not crazy. Nicholas is a strong traditional name. Either way you go, they sound well with Jack. Just depends is you want a more traditional name for your new baby boy or not.
Best wishes to you!
