I'm wondering if anyone knows of parenting classes offered to help with three year olds? I know I'm a good mom, but lately I feel like I'm running on an empty reserve of patience. I'd like to learn some new techniques for discipline and overall juggling of two young boys.

I haven't taken any classes, but "Happiest Toddler on the Block" by Harvey Karp and "Positive Parenting" by Glenn Latham have both helped me. I got both books out of my local library.

Good luck, and if you find a parenting method you love I would like to hear about it!

Hi H. - I can't recommend a class, but I can recommend a fabulous book! "Your Baby and Child - from birth to 5 years, by Penelope Leach. Look on Amazon now!

Hi H.,

How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk.
It's a book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. Parenting courses with the same name are also taught using this book.

What I've noticed is that children will feel less important and act out when they feel they are ignored. They need "face time" with thier parents/guardians.

Good luck

HI-

I recommend the Nurtured Heart Appraoch. It is a wonderful way to approach all people, esp children. It is loving and creates boundaries at the same time. A woman named Gabrielli La Chiara teaches workshops in the Amherst area, but I know that she has taught them in CT as well.

I think her website is gabrielli.org

good luck!!

Hi H.,
I don't know where you are located but there is a wonderful place in Sanford called The Parent Resource Center. I know the director and she is fantastic! Not sure if they offer classes specifically for 3 year olds but I know they offer quite a few parenting classes.

Check out your local churches, larger day cares, and your school distrct. I'm always seeing notices for these kinds of classes in my area.

Not sure where you love, but try to see if the town has a family network. Great places!

Hi H.,
Good for you! Parenting classes can be fun, and a great way to meet new people. Classes are often posted at local libraries, and may be available through your school system or local Community Partnership Council. Have fun!
