Pants for Larger Toddler...
My 14 month old is around 30+lbs and about 29 inches tall. For shirts I get him 24mo/2T. There are some 18mos he can wear. I am having a heck of a time finding pants for him though. There is one pair of jeans that fit him OK at baby Gap that have an elastic waist (I have to roll up a little) but I have been looking for khaki's and can't find much with an elastic waist in the 18-24mo range. Anything as I get into his age range don't have elastic waists anymore. The kind with the adjustable waist inside doesn't really seem to make that big of a difference and I still have to go a lot bigger then roll up. Anybody have any good suggestions?
So What Happened?™
Thanks everyone! I still had a hard time finding what I was looking for so I tried Once Upon a Child and found several items. I figured a place like that would have most variety! He's actually slimming down quite a bit since it warmed up and he's moving a lot so he might be able to wear normal pants/shorts now.

I had this same problem with my son when he was younger. I found that Gap, Old Navy and most "off" brands were made for thinner children. My son most often fit into Gymboree, Carters and Oshkosh. Now he's 5 and he is a bean pole. We can buy pretty much any brand now. Hope this helps you out.

Walmart - not my favorite store but they have super cheap elastic waist pants that fit kids up to 5T (which my five year old wears because he hates snaps and zippers). The are like $5-8 a pair and last a really long time. They have jeans and khakis and as much as I dislike the store they are GREAT pants for kids!

You could try using the older kids sizes and just rolling up the legs since they will be too long. For a while we bought clothes that were a good fit in one way or another and then had Nana sew alterations. (We had to have waists taken in.) Another thing to try is to start looking at consignment shops or post an ad in a local paper seeking what you are looking for- chances are someone else has already had this issue and is holding onto baby/toddler clothes that would work just right for you).

Maybe elastic is not "in" this season. LOL!
I checked Hanna Andersson's site, and these "beach pants" caught my eye. They are khaki, have an elastic waist, and the bottoms can be cuffed w/a button tab. I also saw some other elastic waist pants on their site. They do Euro sizing which goes by mainly by height, and to a lesser extent weight, but how to figure it out is explained quite well:

I just checked my son's closet, and he has Carter's pants w/elastic waists in size 2T. He also had lots of "off brands" in 2T with elastic waists--the full elastic, not just partial. They are out there... They are all hand-me-downs, so I can't be of help as to the stores. One suggestion I have is to surf eBay and see what comes up. You might find overalls to work well, too.

D. I must admit in our house it is the total oposite. I have little ones who are skinny . We do go to Target,Old Navy and Gap to get pants because they all have the elastic waist that can be adjusted. Good luck in your search I hope this helps.

A friend of mine gets her sons pants at Kohl's, Sonoma brand. They carry both elastic waist and adjustable. Her son is very short but round and has to heam all his pants.

My son was a big guy at this age too. I found he was much more comfortable in the Oshgosh overalls. They come in so many colors and prints, and they seemed to last forever because they are quality and you can adjust the straps to make it longer. He liked them because there were lots of pockets and you'll like them because his back won't get exposed when bending and playing. If they seem out of your price range, check out the Oshgosh outlets, and even rummage sales in a nice neighborhood, seems like they always have a few at each house!
Good luck, Pam.
