I am about 6 weeks along and just recently started having morning sickness or I should say all day sickness! I'm having indigestion, nausea and this pain under my rib cage. It's kind of like a full tight feeling that won't go away. I don't know if it could be gas or just a part of morning sickness. I don't remember this kind of feeling with my first pregnancy. My Mom said it could be my Gallbladder but I don't know. I haven't been to the Dr. yet. Any help is appreciated!

What can I do next?

I began having pain under my rib cage on the right hand side shortly after I became pregnanat. at fist I thought It was in my head, but it became more frequent and the pain was more intense. I mentioned it to my OB when I was about 11 weeks along and he sent me for an ultrasound. I remember that was done at 12 weeks as the technician let me sneak a peak at my son before looking at my gall bladder. Sure enough I had one very large gall stone, which they said was too big to even pass through the bile duct (this is what causes a lot of problems for people) I saw the surgeon a week or two later and he said if I could stand the pain he was comfortable waiting until after I had the baby to remove my gallbladder. Long story short, I foolishly wanted to wait and put that off as long as I could so I could continue nursing, without having to pump & dump (pain & anestesia). I ultimately waited until my son was 10 months old to have the surgery. (12 really miserable gallbladder atacks later) and honestly for me the surgery was a piece of cake. I recovered very quickly and haven't experienced any problems since. If it it your gallbladder they'll want to know asap to see where the stones are and if it is something else causing the pain then you need to figure that out too. I would strongly suggest you call your doctor and tell them you are experiencing pain and you'd like to be seen. oh yeah, the morning sickness with this pregnancy was horrible and partly due to the gallbladder. don't wait. Good luck. I hope you get your answers soon.

It sounds like it could be your gall bladder. After my first son was born, I started getting HORRIBLE attacks, and found out that it was my GB. In hindsight, I realized that what I THOUGHT was part of pregnancy (indigestion, pain, bloating), was really the start of GB attacks. If I remember correctly, I believe they did an ultrasound to confirm.

It sounds like gallbladder to me too. It is very common during pregnancy. For a mild case you can fast for a few days until it goes away. Eat very very light or nothing, drink fruit juice and tea for the acid. Rest and when you start eating again watch how much fat you eat at once. You need fat but just make sure you get it slowly and not over a large chocolately dessert.

It could very well be gas. I know how painful and misleading it can be. I did have gallstones and they can be spotted with and ultrasound. I would push to have one done.

On a personal note. I had gallstones for over 7 years because a Dr. told me that pain was in my head and that as I "lost weight" the pain would go away. Meanwhile I had attaches every 3-4 months and would double over for about an hour almost everytime. Get 2nd 3rd and even 4th opinions and the thing that did it for me was going to a female Dr.

I hope you get to a Dr. soon an find out what it is and feel better soon. Congratulations.

That pain is the reason I will only have 2 kids. I had it with with both pregnancies (they lied saying every pregnancy was different) It was the worst pain Ive ever had in my life it was worst then labor pains for me (probably cause there was no epidural LOL) My OB had no explaination for it. He sent me to a gastroentorolgist thinking it could be my gall bladder and it wasnt cause it was both sides and I didnt have elevated liver enzymes. He also sent me to a Pulmonologist and a surgen. I threw up for 23 weeks and the only guess was because I threw up so much it hurt my muscles and aggrivated the cartletge that is between my ribs and my sternum causing the pain. Once the throwing up subsided the pain went away. I hope you do not go through what I did and you need to call your OB and talk to him about it because your so early on. I know a lot of OB's dont see you till 12 weeks and if your already having morning sickness you probably need some zofran.

Both my pregnancies I had that pain. Aside from actual labor, it was the worst part of the pregnancies. There were days that it got so bad that I couldn't get out of bad. I took Tylenol for the pain, that seemed to help. But I had to make sure that I didn't take to much. My husband made sure I never took more than the doctor ok'd. During my check ups she said that it was normal (relatively speaking) and there was nothing wrong with me or the baby, it was just a part of the process for some women. Its been a while (five years) so I don't remember exactly what she told me it was the book What to expect when your expecting explained it. But definitely ask your doctor about it asap because you never know with pregnancies, ok for one pregnancy is not ok for another.
