Packing for Hospital
Single mom of two wonderful kids a and half year old daughter andd a 5 and half year old son. Expecting the newest edition a girl within the next 6 to 8 weeks.
My kids will be at the hospital while Im in labor (I want them to be first to see their new sister not to hear it from others that have seen baby first). But they will be outside fo the room with my dad (their pawpaw) and my best friends husband (my best friend will be in the room with me during delivery.
I have the kids taking their backpacks with a color wonder, couple of toys, crayons, big sister/brother shirts(they made themselves) that they will wear that day and an extra set of clothes. Also they will both have a gift for baby sister and baby sister a gift for them.
What all do I need to remember to pack for me, baby and for kids that might help.

on top of the other suggestions, maybe your address/phone book in case you want to make phone calls. also, for each of my births, i made sure to bring money and would go and buy a newspaper downstairs for that day. I always kept the front page of the paper for when they get older so they can see what was top news the day they were born.

whatever you have on your list, make sure that the hospital doesn't provide it for you. people have gone to the hospital with nothing more than a purse and lived.

I think Lauren M had most of it - but also remember your chargers or extra batteries for everything - Cell Phone/Camera/iPod/Video - whatever electronic device(s) you bring.
For the kids - Games, playing cards, favorite toys. Snacks and water or juice boxes! Money for the vending machine or the cafeteria in case it takes a while. Bring a portable DVD player if you have one. And remember hospitals can be cold, so pack them sweaters even if it's 100 degrees outside.

I too am packing for our little girl's arrival very soon so this subject has been on my mind too. I asked all around so I wouldn't forget anything and here are a few things I might not have thought of myself. Breastfeeding pillow, nursing pads, lanolin cream, camera, babybook, pillow, change for vending, & a small gift for nurses. (Of course your toiletries, a few pairs of pj's, robe, socks, slippers, underwear, bra/nursing bra, going home outfit for you and baby, hair rubberbands, brush) Hope some of these ideas help!
