Hi all. I'm just wanted to get some ideas for weekend outings for my 14 month old daughter and I. We try to do something every weekend indoors or outdoors. I would like stay under $20 for admissions and parking. Anyone have any suggestions?

I took my d15 month old aughter to the sprayground at Lake Highlands Rec center yesterday and she loved it. They have them at a lot of parks and city pools. THere was a post on here about a week ago with a lot of them listed.

Not sure where you're coming from but Fair park's Aquarium and the grounds it's self (which you can walk around and picnic at for free! Whoopie!) Were a favorite hang out for my kids and I from birth on. I think it's 3 bucks a ticket for the Aquarium now. We have a zoo pass so it's free with a Dallas Zoo pass. If you want pictures I can get you some and let you see it before you decide.

I recommend the arboretum if you want to do something relaxing that a 14 month would enjoy http://www.dallasarboretum.org/.

Dallas Arboretum, the Zoos, Dallas Aquarium, the Plano Hot Air Balloon Festival in Sept., Towne Lake in Mckinney has a great picnic area and the kids love to feed the ducks and fish.

There's a place at DFW airport called Founder's Plaza where you can sit behind a wire fence right next to an active runway and watch the planes take off. You're so close the pilots will actually wave to you from the cockpit. Kids love it!

I would recommend Fair Park in downtown Dallas. It has something for ALL ages!!!

We recently went to the Body Works exhibit and I was noticing that although I woulnd't take anyone younger than say at least 13 to that particular exhibit, there is a LOT to do in a the park!

The museum has an interactive area where they can play shopping, cooking, and just an all around really neat kids museum. I would highly recommend it and plan on taking my kiddos back there soon! oh, and we didn't have to pay anything for parking when we went....

I hope this helps!
hugs and blessings

If she's a good walker, there's a place in Frisco called "Wiggles Play Place" and it's an indoor playgrounds with things to climb, slides, and Wiggles shows playing on big televisions. It's a neat little place. My son loved it. They have an area for smaller kids so they don't get trampled by the older ones.

The Zoo has always been our thing. We get season passes at the Tyler Zoo (closest to us) and go nearly every week. My boys, who are now 2 and 5 never tire of it! We also visit other zoos where we get a discount for having a membership at our zoo. So far our favorite is The Fort Worth Zoo and Lufkin Zoo.

Another fun idea is to ride the steam train between Palestine & Rusk. It may be a couple hour drive for you but it is worth it! I'd do that before it gets too hot outside. If you do, make sure and sit in the train car furthest from the engine as the ones up front are really loud. Take a picnic lunch for the stop while the train turns around to take you back. There's a play ground area too. Oh! And kids ride FREE from June-August! http://www.texasstaterailroad.com/schedule.html

Check out the Dallas Parks and Recreation website

The museums can be fun, too, even for a toddler. Many have interactive areas for kids.

Try this: http://www.gocitykids.com/?area=185

or: http://www.metroplexbaby.com/

There is also the Dallas Zoo or the Aquarium. I have done both with my son at that age or younger. He may not get as much out of it as an older child, but I could tell he was still happy to be seeing different things.

Hi S., there is a wonderful place in Allen on McDermott called Tots Towne. It is a Little Tikes store but they have it set up so that you can pay $5 and your child can play on their indoor playground(little houses and slides and climbing structures for bigger and little ones) as long as you wish. It is really clean and my Son loved it at that age. They also have rooms for birthday parties as well! Blessings, J.

I would suggest going to the chambers of commerce for each city and seeing what special attractions are in each town. I know Dallas had a brouchure of the 50 top things to do within a budget.

Also, besides standard attractions that cost money, tour all the parks and recreation areas or go outside of town and see the cows and horses. You could always have a mini picnic around there!

We love the fort worth zoo. It cost $10.50 for adults and parking is $5.00 or can be free if you want to park farther away. And your daughter would be free cause she is under 2. And the kiddos always love the zoo. I know mine does. :)

Have fun!
