Hi -
I think I need to get a playset of some sort for my backyard. I have 1 girl, she's turning 2 in December and so far no love of swings. She loves to climb and loves slides. Any recommendation on what I should get? there are some good end of season sales now so I wanted to take advantage of them. I was also thinking of playhouse type things?
thanks!!

What can I do next?

Toys R Us or Walmart have great selections. We got our son, who never liked swings, a Step2 double slide & climber set.

We did a wooden playset (made from pressure treated wood) when the boys were small. Lasted for 12 years and then went to a neighbor. Still in decent shape and the wooden sets are very sturdy and safe.

Oh, how exciting! My girl will also be 2 in December and I just WISH we had a yard with space for outdoor toys! My dream would be to have one of those wooden sets with the little playhouse, a slide, rock wall, and swings (my girl LOVES to swing)!! My husband is very handy, and I would actually like for him to build one for her (and whatever future children we may have)!! I think the plastic playsets are quickly outgrown and get bleached in the sun, so I'd definitely go for wood (treated or painted)!

We bought a Step Two Kangaroo Climber and kept it in the house, in the toddler bedroom. Both kids played on it but it was primarily the boys toy. His room is 11 1/2' by 11 1/2',small but not tiny.

It's very similar to the Koala Climber.

As for outside, there are many options. I recommend that you think about your options and decide which way you want to go. Plastic verses wood or metal or a composite material...wood gives splinters if not kept up, plastic gets sun damage and deteriorates over a few years, metal retains the sun's heat and can cause burns, and composite material may be very expensive and it may be made out of sub standard material if it's not a good quality. Once you decide what you want it made out of then you can decide where to start.

We went with the wood stuff from Lowes. We choose it because we can always add on to it, we can buy additional activity things as we want, such as the binoculars or the rock climbing wall. It can grow with the kids and a variety of aged children can play on it and be entertained.
