Outdoor Gear

I would like to take my 6 month, not quite crawling yet, son outside with me when I work in the yard. I don't want to wear him on my back, or put him down on the wet ground. Any ideas? I have one little outdoor bassinet thing I got from a friend, but it's almost as big as he is!

What can I do next?

There are jeeps, walkers or jumpers just put shoes on him. Or at times I would lay a tarp or blanket or both. Good luck. Kids love the outdoors. It's healthy-keep up the good efforts.

If he will stay in it, a full sized travel crib is great- they are easy to set up and move around- buy a used one off Craig's List and you won't worry about getting it dirty. Throw in a blanket and some toys and you might get 15-30 min.- Good Luck!

I used bouncy seats when the kids were little and then they went into the pack and play once they could sit and scoot. If it was dry enough I would put down a Neat Sheet on the grass throw some toys on it and stick them in the middle. They would end up rolling over to the grass alot lol, so as I said I only did this when it was dry.

Do you have an exersaucer, he should be ready for that!

I would suggest a playpen.

We have a nice bouncey play pen that is elevated off of the ground a bit. It's great for yard work, because the bottom of the pen stays dry.

Hi there,
We bought a graco pack n play sport it is shaped like a hexagon, has a waterproof bottom that you can set right on the ground even if it is a little uneven. Has a full canopy that goes over it for rain or sun protection. I use to be able to put our daughter in this on the deck and mow the yard! There are mesh windows on the sides so they can see out but are safe. My daughter loved it. I don't know if they still make them, here is a link to one on ebay. Hope that helps.
