Orthodontics - Westland,MI
My 12 year old needs braces and I'm just curious to find out the price range. I've been quoted 5,000 to 6,000.
Do you think that's a fair price ?00.

That sounds like the price range I found when looking at braces for my son. I ended up with Invisalign, but I really think that's best for older teens. I would not get them for my younger son.
However, Damon System (which is what I was originally looking at) is a great alternative. You might want to read up on that. You can find online where a provider near you is.
That's what I would have used if I hadn't used Invisalign.
Good luck!

OUrs were $3800. Insurance paid $1500, we paid the rest.

So Far only my youngest SS has needed braces...I do not remember the final price, I only remember that our portion (64%) was (Mom had to pay too) roughly $2800...
So I say yep, that's pretty close but you should always get at least 2 different estimates....unless you absolutely love and trust your orthodontist.

I know that when we looked we went for 2 different consultations with different doctors. I got estimates for roughly the same treatment plan that were almost $1000 different. The lower cost that we went with was roughly 4000. I'd get at least a couple of consultations if you haven't already. Most will do those for free.

our insurance chipped in 1500 and we paid 3000 or 3500 (i try to block out those huge awful numbers, so i'm not sure which amount!). he has to wear them for two years and have surgery. I'm not sure the surgery is included in that. We paid for our share by using a credit card called Care Credit. it's thru GE Bank and if you pay the balance off within a certain amount of time you dont have to pay interest. I love this card! we've had to use it at the vet, dentist, etc., when we didnt have the cash to pay upfront.

Wow that's expensive! I'm guessing it could be based on where you live, but here you're looking at $2K for 24 months.

I am pretty sure that is about what we pay. The insurance put 1500. We put a deposit and then pay 100 a month per kid (for 30 months). We are on our third kid now....darn braces!
