hi, my one year old daughter banged her eye while playing in her room, now its slightly closed and bloodshot also watering alot, she keeps rubbing it like its irritating her and then crying. what should i do?
I rang the doctors they wanted to see her asap so I took her in and they said to take her to the hospital to get checked out, just waiting now to be seen...
She might have scratched her cornea. Not as horrible as it sounds---I got a tiny cut in my eye recently and it healed pretty quickly (eye doc says no body part heals faster than the eye!), but there were some eye drops involved, and I was supposed to stay in the dark for some time to let the eye rest. I would get it checked out.
llo, I would take her to have it checked by her pediatrician. It's probably nothing, but I would want to make sure she didn't scratch her eye.

Go to the doctor - anything like that should be evaluated to make sure she didn't scratch her cornea or has other problems.
Call her ped and ask their advice, they may want to see her or they may give medical advice but I would call.
Take her to the doctor for a look. My 2 year old recently cut my eyeball pretty badly -it was bloodshot and it watered horribly. I went to my eye doctor and he gave me antibiotic drops to prevent any infection. Her doctor may want to do the same if the eye is actually scratched.
