Hi moms!

Ok, when it comes to packing a diaper bag, I think I'm pretty good. I mean, don't wanna brag or nothing, bit with both my babies I set up organized, color coordinated diaper bags stocked win everything a mother needs, and I thought of everything: first aid kits, several sets of spare clothes, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, even a nail file (don't you hate it when you break a nail and you have to deal win that jagged edge all day!) my diaper bags weigh more than the kid but whatever, lol! When I am away from home base I like to be prepared for anything.

So why, why, did I fail to pack a spoon for my daughter the other day??? This is unlike me. But I was in a rush to get out the house and was aware that while I lacked a cooler full of food and bottles, I neglected to pack a baby spoon. But I was halfway out the door so I was like whatever, when I get to my destination I'll find a restaurant, fast food joint, pharmacy or some place like that and just ask for a disposable plastic spoon. Five diners later I could not find a place that had plastic spoons and I could never find a pharmacy. I was so upset with myself.

So now I am like, never again will I leave the house without a spoon!!

What's your baby thing that you will never leave the house without??

What can I do next?

Rags, towels, wipes, SOMETHING to clean up spontaneous messes!

I stash extra napkins in glove compartment as back up and when my neat-freak husband removes them I HATE it!

the diapers. You'd think it would be obvious but it's amazing how few brain cells are left after having 4 kids.

An extra pair of shoes! Not so much a baby item, but when my son was potty training he peed himself at a store and it got all over his shoes. Luckily I just bought him a new pair at that store, but ever since then I have an emergency pair of crocs in his bag!

Mine's actually the diaper bag. I used to live in a very small village in a third world country where I could be home in five minutes easily and never took the diaper bag with me. When I moved back to the states I of course forgot to bring it with me a couple of times and well I'm sure you can imagine what happened. Now I always keep a packed bag by the door.

When he was smaller I'd say his binky! Soothed a boy so fast. But now we don't go anywhere without his blanket and his toy snake. Lol.

My cell phone. Everytime I go out of the house with the kids (and forget my cell phone), something inevitably happens where I need to call someone. Why is that?

It used to be his pacifier. Now I would say his sippy cup. I try to keep our errands/outings to two hours or less, so I usually don't need to worry about changing diapers. I just leave a stocked diaper bag in the car now that it's not freezing overnight. Then if I need something different for him, I just have to worry about that and not the whole diaper bag status.

My sling and his CD for the car. I hate dealing with the stroller because he insists on pushing it himself, and that is just too cumbersome when we are out, so I let him push the heck out of it close to home or when my husband is out with us. When he gets tired of walking, I prefer to put him in the sling. He's okay with music from the radio, but I always wish that I had his CD instead.

I'm pretty good about keeping the diaper bag packed with water, two blankets, nursing cover, diapers, wipes, camera, flashlight, pen, Sharpie, first aid kit (including Epi pen), gloves, moisturizer/sealant for his bottom, extra clothes, toy/book, snack, shampoo and lotion....

the baby.
okay, i never actually forgot a baby. but i did leave a toddler (briefly) a time or two. and i'm getting so absent-minded in my encroaching dotage that i have no doubt i could pack a diaper bag perfectly and leave the baby behind.

I always forget the baby/toddler silverware - ugh. The very first time we went to the pediatrician (when son was 4 days old) we forgot the diaper bag entirely. The whole thing. New parents much??? I also never seem to have children's tylenol. I take it out of his bag at home and forget to put it back. One of these days I'll buy an extra!
