Old Irving Park
I'm back again! Trying to find new neighborhoods in Chicago to move to. We are in the market to buy a home, we currently live in Lakeview. We really want to stay in the city and really want SOMETHING to be able to walk to. Even if it's just a coffee shop or a nice park, we are very used to city living, we just need more space and cannot afford to live where we are now. Anybody live in Old Irving Park? Or anyone have any other recommendations?

I live in Old Irving. Very nice neighborhood but quiet. There are a few restaurants within walking distance but certainly not the selection you'd get closer to the lake. Starbucks is right in town and has an outdoor seating area that is nice in the spring and summer. There are also some nice parks in the area. Lots of pretty homes which makes walking in the neighborhood very pleasant.

Have you thought about Lincoln Square or Ravenswood Manor?
Lots of shops, restaurants, coffee houses, ect... in Lincoln Square. We've lived here for a year, after living in Roscoe Village, Lakeview, Lincoln Park & the Gold Coast several years each since 1993... We love it here. It was hard to get used to being so much further from downtown, but the brown line is super convenient and the neighborhood, although certainly more modest than our previous neighborhoods, is also very nice and very ethnically diverse, which we love. Check it out!

Hey -
We live in Albany Park and I thought that there would be something in walking distance to do with our son, and there isn't! Thank goodness that Ravenswood manor is a short walk away, but it's too far in the winter - I would recommend Lincoln Square - or if you must go further west - don't go west of Kedzie...Good luck!
