Hi ... G.
I agree with the others, I also use the Mary Kay's Line and it works great just remember to use it every day. I went on Vaca for 1 week and forgot to pack the cleanser and I was doomed when I got back. Break out city. I had always struggled with acne problems. Until I discovered Mary Kay. Now My 11 yr old Daughter is dealing with it. She wants Pro Activ , I am scared to put out that much money for it and it not work. I was told not to let her use Mary KAy because she is to young , We have tried 3 different Rx's from her doc and they haven't worked .

I use Mary Kay's line. They have a whole cleaning regimen. When I first started, I broke out a little, but now my skin is wonderful.

Hi G.,
I'm a little late on the reply, but i also struggle with oily skin, so i wanted to offer a solution-if you haven't already found one...
I use Arbonne International's products, and they really work much better than anything i have ever tried (and believe me, i've tried A LOT!) I was actually so impressed with the products that i became a consultant!
The products are herbal and botanically based, pH correct (very important!), and formulated without animal products, dyes, perfumes, or mineral oil. There is a skin care line specifically for acne, which uses acetyl alcohol and 1% salicylic acid...NOT benzoyl peroxide. The difference with these products is that they balance your skin, so you don't end up with oily or dry patches.
If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me, I'd be happy to answer any questions and help however i can.
Good luck!
M.

This will prob sound crazy, but I went to a dermatoligist for my oily skin, and he told me to buy face lotion, and so I did, and it worked. He said the reason your skin produces oil is because it is too dry, and if you compensate with lotion it won't overcompensate with oil. It works, just buy lotion that is unscented, and for your face. I use Doves face day lotion.

Mary Kay has an acne treatment that always worked for me when I had break outs before that "time of the month." You can also try proactiv, it didn't work for me but it worked very well for my fiance who had extremely bad skin as a teen..

I am not sure about this, but when my skin was more oily than usual, I cut out all fat from my diet. The oil disappeared. Hope this helps. That would mean no butter or oil in anything. No cheese. No lunchmeat. No prepared foods. No chicken skin. No steak. No cream in your coffee. No ice cream. NO SNACK FOODS EXCEPT NO FAT PRETZELS.

Eat vegetables, grains, fresh fruit, no fat yogurt, no fat milk.

I've been using Proactiv for years, I would highly recommend it. Look for one of their mall locations so you don't have to buy the whole 3-step regimen online. I use the balancing cleanser and the repairing lotion and it has helped my oily skin as well as my cystic acne. I know there is a kiosk at the King of Prussia Mall in PA.

Good luck!

G.,

I, like others that have responded, use Arbonne International products...specifically their acne line. It's been really helpful for my "adult acne" and I love it! The line lasts about 3 months, and ends up being less expensive than using ProActiv, or other over the counter products. And it's all botanically based so it's an environmentally safe product.

Good luck! It's no fun breaking out when you are way past those high school and college days!

The great advantage of oily skin.
Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to prevent the pores from being clogged.
Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness.
Avoid skincare products that leave your skin feeling taut and dehydrated.
They cause the upper layers of the skin to shrink.
Choose your cleanser with care. Avoid heavy cleansing creams.
Avoid the use of harsh soaps or cleansers.
Use a pure soap with no artificial additives.
Do not use cleansers or lotions that contain alcohol.
After cleansing, apply a natural oil-free moisturizer to keep the skin supple.
Hope will help.

Hi G., I myself use the Mary Kay products they're wonderful. And they last quite awhile too. She also told me about changing your pillowcases more often to. It seems the dirt from your skin over night builds up on your pillowcases. And with Mary Kay you can change your products as your skins changes as well.My changes for the winter/summer.

Proactive!! It is the BEST stuff I have ever used. I only used it twice a week bc it actually started to dry out my skin. Now I don't have to use it at all. I would definitely try that! You can usually get it at the mall, or look it up on the website. I would recommen that, 100%! Good luck!!

Hello. I never had a zit until I was over 20! Now at 30 and after 2 children my skin is horrible. Having your tubes tied probably caused a surge in hormones. Unfortunatly there isn't much you can do, maybe BC pills would help, but if your tubes are tied you don't need them. Make sure you cleanse every night and morning. Exfoliate every night with a BHA product to clean the dirt from your pores. Also, use a Benzoyl Peroxide product and a light oil free moisturizer. You can see a dermatologist to get recommendations for the best products. I myself have tried Proactiv and it didn't help at all, but it may work for you. Hope that helps!

Hi G.,
I am a skincare consultant and deal with skin ailments on a regular basis. I've noticed a lot of moms are recommending Proactive, but I don't think that would be best for you. Proactiv products contain benzoyl peroxide which causes allergic reactions and excessive dryness in many people. I would recommend a product without benzoyl peroxide such as Murad's acne treatment system. It contains salicylic acid and kills surface bacteria which causes buildup and also cuts down on sebum production. The moisturizer in the line helps to control oil. The kit is about $30 at Sephora and is available online. Another recommendation is to use a cleanser containing glycolic acid which helps to smooth the skin and get rid of oil and dirt. Dermadoctor has a great product called Wrinkle Revenge cleanser, which I use on my face. If you have any questions feel free to send me an e-mail ____@____.com luck!

This sounds weird, maybe, but I used my regular soap (Pear's) and after I lather up my hands I put about a tablespoon of baking soda in, rub it up and wash my face with that. It's a great exfoliator and it really cuts through the grease! A clay mask 2 times a week or so helps control the oil at the source. I have really greasy skin and this combo is the only thing that works. Good luck!
