NY Pizza

Does anyone that's had NY pizza know of any place around here that serves NY pizza that actually tastes like NY pizza? My sister, who moved from NY a couple of years ago, is now pregnant and having major cravings for NY pizza. If anyone knows of such a place in the area, please let me know, before we have to book a flight to NY!!!(j/k) We live in Flower Mound so anyplace relatively close would be great but we wouldn't mind going farther if it's worth the drive. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

You guys are awesome!! Thanks so much for all the feedback. We've tried two of the pizza places suggested, Nick's in Lewisville and Coal Vines. They were both good. My sister really loved Coal Vines. We're going to try the other places mentioned as well...until she gets sick of pizza or the baby is born, whichever comes first. Thanks, again, for all the suggestions. My sister and her little bambino thank you, also.

I second Gentis Pizza in Corinth. I just moved here from Delaware a few months ago and that is one thing I miss........the good pizza. I tried Gentis for the first time yesterday and it is the closest I have found so far. Very yummy!

Hi I am NY from too. Its impossibe to find NY style pizza. The closest that I have found is Alfredos Pizza and Pasta in Lewisville. Its on 121 near corporate dr. There is a McDonalds on the corner.

Grimaldis is opening next month in uptown Dallas. Since that's the real NYC thing she'll probably love that.

There is another place somewhere in Dallas that has coal fired pizza but I can't remember the name of it. I'll do a search and see if I can figure it out and let you know.

OK - found it, Coal Vines at 2404 Cedar Springs Rd. They also have coal fired pizza.

Enjoy the pizza!!

Hi
There's a restaurant in IRVING along MACARTHUR , Valley Ranch area that is called New York Pizza. My family love their pizza and pasta. Try it !

Okay, so obviously there is nothing like the real thing.... But Napoli's in Grapevine, it's on Main st. is the closest thing we have found. My husband is from Philly, and he says it's the closest to east coast pizza as you can get. Plus they have really good baked ziti and gelato. Good luck to your sis, I know how crazy those cravings can be!

Hi Mary,

My husband and I are from Westchester County, NY and one of our goals has been to search out NY pizza as well! :)It's hard to find, but there is one place that is very comprable, I think you/she would be impressed. It's Parma Pizza and Pasta over in Lewisville. It's right off 3040 across from the Taco Bueno they just built. It's in that little strip mall near that big church and there's a daycare center behind it. They have awesome NY style and tasting pizza as well as other Italian greats! There is also a place on Main St. in Lewisville right near the high school. I have a co-worker that's from Long Island and they eat at that place and she says it tastes like NY style pizza as well, they really like that. When she gets into the office I will ask her what the name of it is and sign on and e-mail it to you as well. And if I think of any others I'll let you know, but those two are the main ones that I know "life long" New Yorkers have eaten at that taste pretty good...Nothing will ever be NY pizza in TX, but they are similar!

Mary,

I am from NJ and PA. We really like Gentis Pizza in Corinth. It is the closest we have found and tastes great. Tell your sister that grease will run down her chin. That is how we always knew if pizza was any good.

Best of Luck,
M.

If yall ever make it to the Frisco side, there is a place on Legacy called Brooklyn's and they have wonderful pizza, salads, subs, and canolis.

I got lucky while I was pregnant...I have a friend who lives in New Jersey and when I was pregnant, he would make a trip to Lombardi's in Manhattan and buy me some pizza and actually FedEx it to me overnight! Ohhh sooo good!!!
