Nutritional Cookbook
My husband and I are trying to change our eating lifestyle after trying all kinds of fad diets. I am not looking for a cookbook that is healthy, low-fat, nutritionally balanced, and has recipes that are for the "normal" cook. All of the cookbooks I find have 20 ingredients and require way to much time for prep or cooking. We both LOVE to cook, and we like cooking gourmet food but not everyday of the week; this is just not practical for a family with two working parents. Does anyone know of a good book or website?

I have always like Cooking Lights recipes. I get their magazine which often has quick supper ideas, as well as lots of recipes that are more time consuming. They have a great cookbook out called Cooking Light Super Fast Suppers. There are a lot of great idead in this book for quick suppers including things you can make with what you have on hand, crock pot suppers, no cook dinners, and lots more! I hope this helps!

At the scholastic book fair last year I found, good, fast and cheap. Most of the receipes are very simple and my kids will eat it. You can always modify the fat/carbs and fruits/veggies to meet your family if need be. We have had several of the receipes and my kids and husband have all asked where that came from and when are we going to have it again!

E.,
Check out the "Quick and Healthy" series of cookbooks by Brenda J. Ponichtera. Here is a one of the titles: "Quick & Healthy Volume II: More Help for People Who Say They Don't Have Time to Cook Healthy Meals (Plastic Comb)by Brenda J. Ponichtera (Author". I've used her cookbooks for years. Plenty of recipes for easy, good, healthy weeknight meals. You can go to Amazon and type in her last name for all the titles. Congrats on your lifestyle change!

I use www.epicurious.com It has fabulous recipes for the more gourmet cook. Some are harder and some are easier, noted by the clock symbol (for a quick meal). Thye also havea feature called "easy week" with a weeks which ahs a new menu each week of easier recipes. Not all the recipes are "healthy", but they use real ingredients rather than canned soups, etc.
I LOVE to cook, and my husband lost 60 lbs about 5 years ago and heas kept it off by changing his lifestyle rather than dieting. I truly think it is beacsue he cut out fast food and we eat mostly non processed food. We do not diet. I don't always cook low-fat (we occaisonly have pasta with cream sauce, for example), but we eat lots of fresh veggies and very little packaged food.
ALso, Fine Cooking is an excellent magazine with meals that are fairly simple. It is more like a cookbook than a magazine.
Good luck-happy healthy eating!

There are many simple and healthy recipes on the Whole Foods website and they do have a cookbook you can purchase in the store (possibly on line too).
Good luck! Their Whole Kids menus are great too!

www.allrecipes.com has a lot of great recipes. You can search by ingredient, ethnicity (Mexican, Asian, etc) type of dish, and low-fat/healthy. It's wonderful!

www.sparkrecipes.com has a lot of recipes, but you'll have to sort through to really find the good ones since they're all user submitted (and not filtered). There are a lot of really quick, easy recipes with short ingredient lists.
