Nutri-system Question
Hi, I am thinking about trying Nutri-system, and I was wondering if anyone on mamasource had ever tried it, and what were your reations and opinions about it? Good choice, bad choice, etc. TIA
Happy New Year!

So What Happened?™
Hi, thanks to everyone for such a great response to my request! Overwhelmingly, I was told the Nutri-system food is awful, although there were a few that liked some of their dishes. I have been on WW, too, in the past, and had some luck with it, but it was hard to stick to it. I don't like to do complex cooking, and all that prep had me down. I believe I will try my own "nutri-system," and buy some Lean Cuisines at the store. They are bound to taste better than what everyone says Nutri-system tastes like, lol. The two major problems I forsee for myself are not learning to eat normally on my own cooking, and not eating the same thing my family is eating. Also, sweets are my big downfall. Again, thanks for all the help! Have a Happy New Year!
D.

Hi D.! I have not tried Nutri-system, but have tried WW. It worked for me as long as I attended weekly meetings - which I don't like to do. I also tried taking phentermine under my Dr.'s care - it works but it's NOT HEALTHY! What I am having tremendous results with is ISAGENIX. Have you heard of it? It isn't a "weight loss" program, but a cleansing and nutrition program. It's more affordable than Nutri-system or Jenny Craig type programs and even the Dr. & phentermine approach. AND IT'S HEALTHY! I am a dental hygienist, but have added ISAGENIX to my life and my income. I am a consultant now, and loving it! Please call if you would like to know more! S. Owens ###-###-####

To be honest the food is so - so, some okay some just bad. But if you stick to it, it works. I have a 1 and 2 yr old and I promised myself I would be back down to my pre-2 pregnancy weight since I gained quite a bit with 2 pregnancies back to back. Its hard but if you stick to it you can lose the weight. I went from a size 8/10 down to a 4. Its strict and its really hard with a family to eat separately. Just depends on how badly you want to do it. I think there are better options out there so look around. I have some food left that I would gladly let you try if you want before you take the big step. Good luck.

Hi D.. I've never tried NutriSystem, but I have a good friend who used it. She completely stuck to the program and lost a few pounds before a big vacation she was taking to Hawaii. So, she was happy with that, but as soon as she went off the program, she gained the weight right back. I represent Arbonne International and we have a fabulous weight loss program called "Figure 8." I know many people who are having great success on this system. It's all natural, safe, Vegan and good for you inside and out. I'd love to tell you more about it. I use several of the products myself such as the Detox Tea, Herbal Colon Cleanse, Weight Loss Chews, and dietary supplement. You can also check out my website for more info: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com. Good luck finding something that works for you! I think that's the main thing is that you find something that meets your likes and works with your lifestyle. As a busy, work-from-home mom, I need something easy and quick to maintain my weight. :) good luck!

I did not have much success sticking to the program. In fact, I still have quite a bit of Nutrsystem food that is just taking up space in my pantry. If you would like to try it out before committing to the expense of the full program, I would be willing to sell you the food I have left for cheap, just to get rid of it. If interested, e-mail me at ____@____.com and I I'll take inventory of what I have and send you a list and you can just make me an offer, if you like.

I tried it for 2 months without much luck...it is still a lot of calories if you add the fruit/veggies etc. they tell you to add & it tastes awful. Personally I'd rather eat nothing but salad than have to eat that again. Like the other lady said, I also have left-over stuff taking up pantry space. If you're not a picky eater, give it a try. Good luck :)

Hey D.,
Have you thought about trying Curves? It an excercise center and it is fairly cheap (about $30 a month for new clients). You work out 30 min a day for a minimum of 3 times a week. Of course like everything else I did not stick with it but it does work. I think the key to healthy weight loss is excercise. Good Luck!

My mom did it and it does work. However, I tasted the food and it is pretty bad. I think Jenny Craigs food tastes better. Good Luck and Happy New Year!

Someone on Mamasource suggested a website called Sparkpeople.com a few months ago and I've been using it ever since. I was doing Weight Watchers at the time, and started using the site to log all of my food, my exercise and my goals. The site automatically tells you how many calories per day you should be eating and how much exercise per week you should have to get to your goal weight, as well as provides tons of articles, resources and message boards. When you log your food, it automatically calculates the calories for you, so there's no frustration with keeping up with numbers. And, I found that it was pretty much in line with my WW points (actually it allowed me to eat a little more than WW). I have been using the sight for about 8 weeks, but fell off the wagon for the 2 weeks around the holidays, and lost over 10 pounds (which doesn't sound like that much, but I went down almost 2 sizes and really toned up). I highly recommend it. Oh yeah - and it's totally free! It's truly an amazing sight.
