Not Sure Where to Go and Who to Ask About Custody, Visitation, and Child Support
I don't know where to go or who to question about what I need to do as their mother to get everything legalized. I have tried calling my case worker and I tried calling legal aid but no one calls back. Does anyone have any ideas or know?

Where are you-- KY or OH? If in Ky, you can go to the child support office in your county and have them begin a paternit action on the 2 children. Once that is established, they will then file for child support for you. The amount he was paying is the minimum I usually see ordered by courts in Northern Kentucky. If he is making more than minimum wage, and you are working as well, the child support charts may award you more.
If you can't get free help that you need through the county child support office, let me know-- I'd be glad to scheduled an appointment to meet with you and help you out. But, in my mind, if you can get it for free-- why pay for it?! Good luck.

You need to go to Juvenile Court at 800 Broadway in Cincinnati, Ohio and file the paperwork to have the child support process started. The more information you have on him when you go the better. His address, Place of employment, social security #. Kind of like doing your own leg work. Also, keep in mind that Child support and visitation are handled totally separate.Make sure you file paperwork for that too. Once you get your paperwork in they should get started on it and you will receive follow up correspondence in the mail. For more information you can call your Your County Dept. of Job and Family Services. Good Luck !

Hi A.,
I am kind of going through the same situation. If you live in Hamilton County, you can get the process started through them but as I am finding out, they are EXTREMELY slow. Call ###-###-#### and ask for the child support department and they can connect you. Just ask for a child support application to be mailed to you. They will deal with visitation, custody, support etc after paternity is established, if it isn't already. If you want, you can email me directly at ____@____.com and maybe we can help each other through this process.
Good luck!!
J.
