It sounds like teething. My daughter buys teething tablets at walmart in the baby section and they work like a charm. Teething rings that you put in the fridge are great too.

Hi C.,
Yes those are signs of teething. I use Humpfrey's teething tablets. You can get them at any drug store or walmart. They are natural and work very well. I hope this helps.

Yes, those are all for sure the usual signs of teething! We gave a little bit of Tylenol and it worked wonders for our daughter. The gels never did much because with the excessive drooling, it just washes most of it away and off the gums. We got the teething rings and put those in the fridge (never the freezer) and also a frozen rag worked well. The pediatrician suggested freezing a plain bagel if she didn't have any teeth already, but I wasn't a huge fan of that idea for fear of choking so I never tried it. Also, I keep her infant tylenol in the fridge so when I give it to her it's a nice cool relief and I actually started doing that when she was teething. It seemed to help.

It does sound a lot like teething which some babies do for months before you actually see the first tooth. My middle one was that way. I swear by a teething product called Hyland's Teething tablets. I find them at most drug stores, Publix, Walmart, Target, etc. they are all natural tiny little tablets that dissolve almost instantly. They have a slightly sweet taste so they are not so abrasive as the orajel (I don't like having that stuff in my mouth, I can't imagine a baby feels differently). you just give the baby about 4 of them and they have worked like a charm for me with all three of my kids. Also, try getting a baby washcloth damp and sticking it in the freezer, My kids all loved to gnaw on frozen washcloths. If all else fails and he seems to be in pain, Tylenol can help. Good luck!

As a mom of 2 teenagers, I can tell you that not too many babies start teething at that age, I would call your sons doctor and see what the doctor says.

With my daughter the orajel and teething rings did not work at all, my son who is 5mths old doesn't like them either. The only thing that has ever worked is teething tablets (a godsend I swear!), they have them at walmart, a dose of tylenol, and a washrag or small blanket that they can easily chew on! This has worked without fail for me each and every time! I nkow the last mom mentioned both the tylenol and washcloth, but in addittion try the teething tablets the combo of all three is awesome!! Good luck!!! oh and p.s. if the diarrhea gets worse or continues call the pediatricion and see if he/she wants you to bring him in or just do pedialyte for a while, diarrhea for more than 1 or 2 days can be really harmful! Good luck hun, hope I was of help!

Sounds like teething to me! The teething tablets seemed to work well for us. When those didn't bring relief I'd resort to giving her Tylenol. At first I hated giving her Tylenol but then I realized how well it helped free her pain...but I tried everything else first. It was mostly bad around nap time because she couldn't fall asleep with the pain. My daughter drooled so much around 3-6 months (she soaked her bibs) and then her first tooth came around 7 months. Teething for us seemed to last quite a long time, but she was only really super irritable once in a while. Try dampening half a washcloth and then freezing it. He'll love chewing on it. Also, anything that he can chew on...even those fat rubbery toddler spoons work well depending on how well he can grasp them. Once they break out their first two bottom teeth it seems as though teething become easier and less painful with the following teeth. Hang in there!

Most Moms have suggested the teething tablets... and I have to agree! You can dissolve them in a bottle or directly in baby's mouth. Start with 3 and go from there based on weight (from what I remember).
You wanted to know how long teething lasts? Well, sorry to say but it is really ongoing for pretty much the first year. Find what works from you from the suggestions (teething tablets, Tylenol, cold/frozen washcloths, and teething rings) and go from there. Be prepared that during the worst phases you'll need to offer lots of cuddle time!
Good luck.
