My daughter will be 9 months on Monday and Im so worried that shes not going to be crawling any time soon :/
At her daycare there are 6 month olds in her class that are crawling and I feel that shes not getting the interaction with the other kids. How can I get her to Move a little bit? Or are there any toys out there that will help her??

My son never did the traditional crawl. He a strange scoot/roll at about 10 mos then went straight to walking at 11 mos. Don't worry about it. She's fine! :)

Dont worry, my 8 month old daughter still isnt crawling, wont even get on her hands and knees! and my 10 month old neice just now started crawling! babies do things at their own pace and as long as shes growing o.k. and hitting other milestones, i wouldnt worry too much.

There is a wide range of normal. Is she trying to do anything else like roll or scoot or anything. Some babies never crawl and that is fine.

dont panic, babies crawl at different ages, and dont believe your babys doctor who will probably try to set the child up for physical therapy, the doctor is just trying to part you from your wallet, not help you in this case. our daughter didnt start crawling until she was a year old, and yes, the doctor "suggested" physical therapy. what a maroon he was !! once we moved to a place where the floors were even and smooth and carpeted, she TOOK off, she went from just barely crawling to walking to almost running in about 8 months. so, dont panic. we did get the baby a walker when she was right at a year old and that did seem to help her. try that
K. h
what we did notice with our daughter is that she tried the traditional crawling position, with her toes flat against the floor, however her feet were so big, they were actually slowing her down, but she eventually got her feet into a paddiling position, and then she got crawling, then walking.

When is your 9 month old well-baby check up?
Ask the Pediatrician, then.

A lot of kids aren't crawling by this age. Some just like to take their time. Does she lay on her tummy? Sit up on her own? Roll over? I'd spend as much time on the floor with her a few feet away and encourage her to come to you. There are some rolling cylinder blow up toys that can help with crawling. She'll get it eventually and then you'll wish for the days when she would stay put!

Stop looking at the other kids. 6 months is pretty early to be crawling, check the milestones and achievements online at a reputable source. My son crawled at 10 months because he could spin around on his bottom and reach for pretty much most of what he wanted. He walked at almost 14 months. Your daughter is in the normal range and lots of kids don't ever crawl. As long as she is doing everything else (rolling over, sitting without support, smiling, ect) don't worry.

It's okay. Our daughter started crawling at almost 11 months. She's fine. I understand feeling freaked out, though, because both of my older children were crawling well ahead of her.

I think she'll crawl when she wants to. My son wouldn't till he was 10 months, but once he started, he went straight to walking after words. I son didn't like being on his tummy, but my daughter was walking by the time she was 5 months old. (crazy, I know, but true) the fact is, give her tummy time, put toys a little out of her reach--it'll get her wanting the toys and try. Don't get stressed out over it. she'll do it when she's ready.

hope this helps!

6 months and crawling? Gee, that's early. 9 months is too! Mine started crawling at 11months and started walking at 12 months. Just relax and wait for it to happen. There's no hurry in my opinion! When they start moving, they don't stop! You'll long for the days when they could sit still!

Never compare your babies to others! They are all different. Some kids don't crawl till a year old. It happens! She will crawl when she's ready. A good thing would be to put her on her tummy away from any and all toys. Sit across the room from her and try to lure her with your voice or the toys. She may start crawling before you know it (: Good luck! And always remember, babies all develop differently, so it's never good to compare them to other kids.

Has she hit her other gross motor milestones? Can she roll over? Can she sit up without support? Can she bear weight on her legs? If the answer to these questions is yes, I would not worry about crawling.

Not all babies crawl and it is NOT critical for future development, though you might hear otherwise. My son never crawled. He used to scoot around on his bottom to get what he wanted.

Talk to her doc at her next appointment to give you some peace of mind, but I really don't think that not crawling at nine months is anything to worry about if she's hitting her other milestones.

Don't push her to crawl...she'll do it all in her own time. My first daughter didn't crawl until she was at least 10, 11 months old...didn't walk until she was about 14 months old...but she was ahead in all other areas. She literally talked (and well) before she walked. Now, at six, she's a great athlete...plays tennis, runs, gymnastics, swims, you name it. Can't ride a bike yet, though...I think some things just come slower for some children. My second child was rolling over the day she was born, crawled well by five months, and was walking around 8...now, at 16 months, she can literally climb up crazy things and run and all that, but she doesn't speak (except for a few words and "peek-a-boo".) So, like I said...all normal.

Don't worry!!! :) Oh, and toys really just slow things down. She'll do it when she's ready. :)

I wouldn't worry too much! Each kid goes at their own pace. If there are 6 mo kids crawling, that is really early. I do like those balls that have batteries inside them that move around in different directions. But really, she'll move when she wants or sees something she wants bad enough. Don't worry!

None of my 3 crawled until they were 12-13 months old, walked around 15 months. Every kid is different.

I have 2 kids and my first, my son, never really crawled. He finally did for about 2 weeks when he was 11.5 months old. Then he started walking. He is an EXTREMELY smart kid (He's in 2nd grade and reading at a 6th grade level), he is very social and he is very active and sporty now. Personally, I would not worry about it at all. It is one of those milestones where you compare your kid to others and you really don't need to.

I wouldnt worry a bit!!! my oldest was about 9 or 10 months before he was doing an actual crawl. he started walking back and forth between my husband and I around 11 or 12 months old, but wouldnt walk out into the room on his own until about 13 months old, and now at 2 1/2 years old, there is no stopping him!! our twins just turned 9 months old and arent crawling yet, but they can roll to the other side of the room in no time and they do this creeping wiggling type crawl thing, hard to explain but they can move around a bit. every baby is different, and I agree that 6 months is kind of early. I wouldnt worry, when she is ready there will be no stopping her!

My dd didn't crawl until the day she turned 11 months. ECI was out evaluating her and she crawled over their legs and crawled for two days until she was up cruising. My daughter didn't roll over either. I can't tell you how to get her to move, just wanted to take away some of your worries.

My 16 mo. old son didn't crawl until 11 months. Even then he did what I call an "inch worm" crawl...similar to army crawl, but with both arms. He then didn't get up on his knees and really crawl until 13 months...then he was all over the place :) ...soon after this he began pulling himself up; however I was then worried about his walking. He just started walking at 15 (almost 16 months). I KNOW how you are feeling. It's the worse feeling really. Continue to put her on her belly with toys just out of reach...and next time you go to the doctor definitely mention it. He/she will be able to tell you if early intervention is neccessary. My son's doctor assured me he was fine, and that some babies are just content and cautious. Some babies never crawl...she may scoot on her bottom! My friend's baby started doing that around 11 months...never crawled. Before you know it, she will be all over the place! :) Good luck!

When my grandson was about 8 mos old and had never crawled, I got down on my knees and started crawling around him, put him on his knees and encouraged him---"monkey see-monkey do" thing. He started crawling. Crawling is essential for a visual development.

I knew a little girl who never crawled at all. She went from scooting around on her bottom straight to walking. I wouldn't worry about it and just ask your pediatrician at your 9 month or 12 month check up.
