Noisy Sleeper

Hi, I have a 3mo old little boy who sleeps in a bassinet in our bedroom. The past couple weeks he has gotten louder when sleeping. He wakes me up constantly making noises and kicking his legs at the bottom of the bassinet. We keep his arms wrapped but leave his legs out, b/c they always get out of the wrap anyway. When I've left his arms out he seems to wake himself up by waving them around so much. He has reflux, and has his mattress on an incline. He used to start making noise like this when he was starting to wake, but now it is starting 30min after putting him back down, and I keep waking up every 10-20min or so(he still wakes 2x a night for breastfeeding). Is this normal and/or time to move him to another room so I can sleep? Or should we be doing something different? Any advice? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would definitely make the move to another room. Our first was a noisy sleeper and still is. Look for a baby monitor that's triggered by loud noise, such as crying, so you don't hear every sound. You'll get a much better night's sleep!

Good luck!

The answer seems clear... move the baby into another room. Mothers get little enough sleep.

hi there anne! i have a 3yr old and a 7 month old and both were/are the noisiest sleepers! with my first, i moved her out of our room after 1 month and with this new one, i moved her out and into her crib after two weeks! i felt slightly bad, but i think we both slept better because of it. i kept the monitor on so that i could hear her, but luckily it doesn't pick up every single little sound, just the big ones so you really know when you need to go in and feed them. it was amazing b.c at 7 weeks, she slept from 7pm to 7am (my 1st did not do that so i don't think it is anything i did...just luck). but the point is, i think we all slept better once we were all in our own beds. Best of luck to you!! congratulations on your little one :)

sweet dreams!

Put him in his own room and use a monitor if it makes you feel better. I could not sleep in the same room with any of my children and they seem to sleep better too.

I have 4 children, 14, 10, 7 and 4.

My son, too was a noisy sleeper from the day we brought him home from the hospital. He would thrash in the bed and make all kinds of noises. He only stayed in our room in a bassinet for 4 days before my husband and I couldn't take it anymore. He has been in his crib ever since (now 10 months old) and we were able to get some sleep! We turned his monitor down so that is was high enough to pick up major noises but too low to pick up the restless sleeping noises.

Hi Anne,

Our first was a restless sleeper too! She would make noises and constantly turn her head form side to side waking my several times a night as well for two – three feedings in the night. I ended up moving her into her crib around 4 months old. She also found her thumb around that time and I found that she was able to sooth herself to sleep better in her own room as well. I also stopped swaddling her because she wiggled out in minutes and really just hated it…so in the crib I started using one the sleep positioners.
