No Teeth~!

hi this is ajanta.you do not have to worry about teeth.both of my children they are 17 and 5 got their first tooth at 11 months,so don't worry about it o.k.

My son cut his first teeth when he was about 10 months old. When he was 1yo, he only had his 2 bottom center teeth. Sounds normal to me. Some babies just cut teeth later than others.

I've heard that you should start getting concerned around 14 months.

my 8-month-old doesn't have any yet either... but I would have sworn she was teething at 3 months.

Yep. I am in a play group w/ a one-year-old w/ no teeth.

I have a 5 year old and a 13 months old. Both did not cut teeth until at least 12 months. Nothing to worry about...they'll come eventually!

Both my girl's did not get their teeth until quite late. At my first daughter's 1 year check up, I voiced my concern to the doctor in case there was some rare case that children don't get teeth. He checked her gums and low and behold he felt a tooth under the gum trying to protrude. My second daughter was 11 months old before teeth. They actually say the later the teeth come in is a good thing for oral hygiene. Don't worry, my pediatrician had never heard of a child not getting their teeth!

I would not worry too much about this. My nephew is 13 months old and has yet to cut teeth. My husband, and both of his siblings were over a year old before they cut teeth and none of them had to have braces. I guess the longer it takes for the teeth to come in, the better they are.

Don't worry. My 6 year old didn't get her first tooth until 11 1/2 months and my 3 1/2 yr old was 13 1/2 months!!!! I took mine to the dentist to see if there was a problem and there wasn't, just slow growing teeth I guess. Also, they say if a child gets teeth late, they lose them late, but that is only a myth as my 6 year old lost her first tooth at 4 3/4 and has lost 5 more since...

My nephews teeth did not come in for well over a year, from birth. My sister in-law worried and asked the doctor about it and he said it was totally normal. A week later his first tooth started to show. Don't worry and good luck.

Hi M. - my son's first tooth began to show through on his 1st birthday. All kids get teeth at different times and my doctor said it teeth that come later can actually be healthier and stronger. My other two sons began getting there between 8 and 10 months. They're all fine!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, both of my daughters sprouted their first tooth around a year old, but if it really worries you, speak with your doc about it. I don't thinks its uncommon, every child is different. My youngest started eating big peoples food around 9 1/2 months old with no teeth. She would crush the food with her gums. So all in all, I wouldn't worry too much. Just talk to your doc.

Yes!! My 1 yr. old just got her first tooth!!! Don't worry, they'll come eventually....I was worried too:)

I understand your question. I have 3 children and my first 2 children got their first tooth at 1year old. One is now 7 and the other 3 and they have perfect teeth. They actually say that it is better when they get them in later because they tend to stronger. I don't know it that's true but don't worry, it's normal and each child is different. I hope this eases your mind a little.

Hi, if you're daughter isn't having any problems with eating, than I wouldn't worry. Just make sure she takes small bites or mashed foods. Both my girls got their teeth a lot later. My oldest didn't get first tooth until she was 13 months old. I was so shocked :-) After that, they came out beautifully :-) Also, she is now 9 years old, she didn't loose her first tooth until she was 7 years old and in total, she only lost 9 teeth. She doesn't seem to have a problem, but I bring her for a check up at the dentist once a year :-) Hope this helped you a little :-D

M.- don't worry-- my son did not get his first tooth until one week before his first birthday!! He is now 16 months and just barely has 6 teeth - 4 on top, 2 bottom.

I asked my pediatrician if people are sometimes born without teeth b/c I was sooo worried. He said there is a condition like that, but it affects the skin and nails and you can tell by looking at someone that there is something wrong... Soooo, I am sure your baby is fine - just late like my son!

Don't worry. They come in at all different times. My girlfriend's daughter is 14 months and only has one tooth. And she just got that one about two months ago. It definatly can be a genetic thing, so if you and your husband we late bloomers for the teeth thing, she probably will be also!

The average baby gets his 1st tooth by 7 months, some as early as 2 months! Every child is different. Some go the entire 1st year without any and are still OK. Can you feel them or even see them when you look in his mouth? Even if your baby did have teeth, they chew with the gums anyhow, until they get their 2 year molars in. If the teeth come in late, the permanent teeth will most likely come in late too. Take your baby to the dentist between his 1st and 2nd birthday. There are some kids with genetically missing teeth. If that is the case, there are things the dentist can do to correct that. No worries. Just take lots of "toothless" pictures. I worked for a pediatric dentist for 9 years. It's normal to worry.
