No Period After Stopping Breastfeeding
Hi Moms! I just stopped breastfeeding my son about two weeks ago, on his first birthday. I had gotten my period pretty regularly since he was 4 months old, which is why I am surprised to be done nursing him, and 14 days late! Seems like my body got things mixed up there. :) Has anyone experienced this? Coincidently, I also got really bad acid indigestion for the first time in my life 3 days ago, so I got nervous and took a pregnancy test, but it was negative. So I've pretty much ruled it out, because at 13 days late, the test should be accurate. Anyway, has anyone experienced something like this? Could it be horomonal? I've also been under a lot of stress lately, though that's never affected things before, but I'm thinking maybe the combination of things? Thanks!

Dear D.,
It appears that you are a very busy mom and that your hormones are adjusting accordingly. Stress plays games in many parts of your body, including glands.
Many women athletes skip many periods because of the amount of stress which they place on their body.
I guess that you could use a basal thermometer and be able to read your hormonal highs and lows a little better without having to get acid indigestion. Basal thermometers are available in drug stores and have directions on how to read them. I found them most helpful and very natural.

Hi I thought you were pregnant when I first started reading (which could still be possible) but as I read on and you had a negative test I think its just hormones. I hope its nothing more. Well shortly after I stopped breast feeding I started the early part of menopause. That period can do some pretty weird things. I think it has a mind of its own

It could definitely be hormones (and stress), but you may want to take another pregnancy test (just to be sure). I've been all over the board with periods both while breastfeeding and for a couple of months after stopping. I wouldn't worry too much just yet, give it a couple of weeks.

I would take another pregnancy test. It may be better to go to the doctor and get a blood test to make sure. It could be your hormones but it is better to make sure than to drive yourself crazy and stress yourself out.

I have been pregnant before and gotten a negative result on a home pregnancy test, and I have spoken to many moms who have had the same thing happen. I would recommend taking at least one more test just to be sure the test wasn't a faulty one :-)
