No Menstrual
I have not had a menstural cycle since January. I contacted my obgyn in April, he said not to worry about it. Could it be early menapause? I have had day and night sweats (power surges) for about a year now.

Get a new obgyn! It could be all kinds of things or it could be nothing, but to dismiss it out of hand is unacceptable.

I started Perimemopause about 9 years ago...I am also 37 now...so I understand completely.
If you are worried about it, make an appointment...They can draw your blood and check your hormone levels for a certain diagnosis.
Blessings,

F.:
Please don't be freaked out about this. I am 40 years old as of April. In January 2002, I suddenly had my periods go from "normal" to practically non-existant. I talked with my OBGyn (whom I've seen since I was about 18) and he said it could be elevated stress. When I explained I had just taken steps to alleviate stress from my life, he said then this could be me normal. You know what? He was right.
If I am stressed, my periods are heavier but still no where near what most would consider normal. I can go most periods with just using a thin pantyliner if anything at all. I am not saying this to brag (most women growl at me when they find this out) but to let you know that this is entirely possible and normal for your body.
If you are still overly concerned, then press your OBGyn about doing extra tests. Personally though, gender is irrelevant if you trust your OBGyn.
Track your stress levels and other potential external influences to see if there is a pattern and ask to have your hormone levels checked. I have been on a mild birth control for years and will continue to be since I am staying healthy and don't smoke (two things that can contribute to other issues). The levels of hormones in it are enough to keep me on a consistant level.
If you want to talk more, feel free to contact me directly.

F.,
My Aunt, who had no children, ended her cycle in her early 30's with no complications later. I'm sure you're ok. If you get too worried, I would see another doctor just to confirm.
Good luck to you.
God bless,

Could be perimenopausal symptoms, do you exercise excessively? This could also be a contributing factor.
K.K. answers from Killeen on July 13, 2009
"could it be" early menopause...yes...especially with your other symptoms...However it ALSO could mean thyroid problems, excessive stress, or a myriad of other things.
If your OBGYN is giving you an answer you do not like, or not doing anything to help you determine the issue at hand, get a second opinion or change your OBGYN...
I would not worry about what it is until you have a diagnosis because you can cause yourself needless worry, fear and phantom symptoms if you stress on it too much.
Make an appointment and get yourself checked out..
Good Luck... ;-)

I had the same problem around 38, the doctor did not seem too worried about it. I went about a year with only 2 cycles. I had my cholesterol checked and it was very high, I got on medication for that and I lost some weight also. The doctor never really said if the two things were related, but my cycle has gotten back to regular. Good luck, keep contacting your doctor if you feel you are not getting the service you need.

It sounds like symptoms of menapause. But, I would see another gyn. Even if you are perimenapausal, you should still see a doctor to have blood work done to be sure and get more information.
