You could definitely apply for assistance but you also have many options that you could look into.
You can negotiate with the hospital, doctors, etc. Health care providers and the hospital will often give you an uninsured discount. Of course, you would want to scale back, for example consider natural childbirth so you won't have to pay for the pain medication, anesthesiologist and so on.
If you have had uncomplicated births in the past and are comfortable with a birthing center or even a home birth that would bring a great reduction in the amount of money that you will spend for your delivery. I don't know if there are many midwives or birthing centers that deal with medicaid but it's worth a call to find out.
After your delivery, breastfeed! It's the best thing that you can do for the baby and it's such a benefit to the M. as well! It will cut down on the cost of formula and also doctor visits.

Please don't feel bad about asking for assistance! Everyone needs a little help with one thing or another now and again. Take time to relax and enjoy. Have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery! Congratulations!!!

There is nothing wrong with you applying for it and if you qualify WONDERFUL!!!!!! You need to do what is best for you and your family. That is what it is there for.

God bless!!!

I too was in the same sit. with my 3rd child. I had no ins. and sought any type of assistance. I enrolled into a "health discount plan" only to find that no hospital took it and I would be given a bigger discount w/out that so called card. Unfortunately, I paid $500 for the enrollment and 1st month, but it did me no good. I ended up applying for emergency medicaid. I felt awful, but I desperately could not afford to pocket the expense. It worked out. I only got it for the last 4 mos of my pregnancy. I also got on WIC but for only 2 mos after baby was born. I just couldnt keep doing that, I felt like I was above that, but in reality, it's there for people who are in similar situations, so get over the guilt or embarassment and just do it. Nobody has to know. It's your business so take care of you and yours...

apply for chip perinatal http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/chip/perinatal/index.htm

yes there are a lot of people who need it but you need it too because you don't have no job and need the dr. also apply for wic it gives you benefits for you and your little kid until age of 5

Um..anyone who has served in the military (and in my opinion being the wife of a military man TOTALLY counts!!) deserves help any time they need it! I say go for it. I would much rather my tax dollars go to helping your family, than some of the other people who use the government assistance. I think you should not only ask for the assistance, but have no shame abot it either. You absolutely deserve anything this country has to offer!!! I hope you find a great doctor and have a wonderful pregnancy..good luck!! ~A.~

Go to your Human Resources Department and apply and the sooner the better. Do not feel a shred of quilt about reaching out for help during your difficult period of time. Those benefits are there in place to help you ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy. God allowed you to become pregnant for a reason so don't feel like you should not be expecting again during a difficult time you and your family are going through. Sure things get difficult and hard but remember (What God brings you to He will bring you thru it.). He did not give us a guarantee that things would always be easy or stress free, but believe that there is a purpose for everything in life when it happens. I wish you and your family well. Also may your birth be a joyous one as well.

If your husband is 100% disabled from the military, his dependents should be eligible for Tricare. My husband is disabled but also retired and we receive Tricare for a small amount each pay date that they automatically withhold. Otherwise, programs are meant to be helping hands and so don't delay and apply.

Many wishes for good health through your pregnancy!
