No Energy!

I have a kidney disease called iga nephropathy. It has caused me to have high blood pressure and some other complications. I am lately hitting a wall of extreme exhaustion. I could usually snap out of it with a cup of coffee or two, not anymore though. I am wondering if any moms have some amazing energy tips?? I have a feeling that we all have this question :-)

I get more energy when I get a full night's sleep on a regular basis and get some physical excercise. I read that new mom's are the most sleep deprived people!

I used to have to nap every day but started taking Isotonix OPC-3 and B- Complex. No more naps. go to healthmadesimple.net and click on Isotonix for all the info.

I am sure you are well read about your disease, but are you sure you shouldn't go to the doctor or at least call your nephrologist? If you're suddenly tired, it may be a sign that your body is trying to tell you something. I would take the time to double check and then follow everyone else's advice. As a nurse, this is my best advice to you. Best wishes and I hope it's nothing!

Do you take vitamins? I started to have my health got worse. My spine does not stay in. I was tired alot too. I started taking these vitamins from Melaleuca and they helped me with being tired and my muscles aren't as tight. I would love to share this company with you. I drink Shaklee's energizing soy protein. It works for me. My sister also drinks it and she only has one kidney and does fine with it but I would run it by your doctor just to be safe. I was always rundown until I started using this and some of their other supplements and with four kids it was really hard feeling that way. Good luck.

Do you take a multivitimin? If you do then add b vitamins. A b complex or b12 can help with fatique. Check with your dr first to make sure since you have a kidney disease if you are on prescribtion meds could that be a side affects

This is from the retrospect of a 55 yr old granma- mom of 5:)
First, make sure you are not anemic. There has been research that long-term anemia may weaken your system in other ways. Get even *borderline* anemia taken care of.
Secondly, If you are allowed medically, start taking Vitamin D supplements. I am currently taking 2000 units a day and it has made a WORLD of difference. I understand that 75% of the women in the Northeast USA are vitamin D deficient. Personally, it improved my sleep so I rested better and was less tired. With 4 daughters and you only 31, you haven't gotten THAT much rest! You shoudl see results in about 1 month.

Sometimes I have to force myself, but my best energy boost is a cardio workout. I usually do workout DVD's, cause it's hard to get away to take a run or walk w/o bringing all three of my kids along. But a good cardio workout really does help to get your blood circulating and your body awake, plus I always sleep better at night if I worked out that day.Good Luck!

Hi T.. I have always found that a good breakfast keeps me going. Yogurt, cottage cheese with fruit, and oatmeal are all good because they are incredibly filling. For oatmeal, I prefer steel cut oats. They take longer to cook so I do them in my slow cooker the night before (I can send you the recipe if you like). Smoothies are also great. Just blend fruit, yogurt, milk (any kind) and add a protein powder. Check GNC or health food stores for ones that can give you energy.

There is also the possibility you need more for breakfast than the traditional fare. I was pretty sick when I was 13 and had no energy. I needed more energy in the morning so my Mom fed me sandwiches for breakfast and it really helped. Maybe you need more calories in the mornings as well. At that time I also took soups and pasta for breakfast. I hope this helps. Good luck finding your energy. :)

Hi T.!

Ugh, I hate that feeling of no energy. I found that eating a snack right before bed works really well for me. My doctor suggested protein - like cheese and crackers - and that really helps before bed. Then for breakfast I eat breakfast food with the kids then I usually end up heating up dinner left overs from last night! I think my metabolism runs really high so I need more food to keep my energy up. Try eating a ton of small meals throughout the day if you don't already.

I also like other posters' ideas about exercise. It feels like the last thing you want to do when you are exhausted, but if you can just push yourself into a walk or bike ride, it really helps!

Other times, you really just need to take a bubble bath and tell your hubby to watch the girls!

Have you considered exercising. Starting off easy maybe with walking every day for 15 minutes then adding on from there. Also, do you take a daily supplement. Are you taking anything for your high blood pressure? My husband has/had high blood pressure as well. He is taking a supplement called Pro-Stolic, through Melaleuca, which has lowered his blood pressure. He also exercises and tries to eat better. Maybe you need to take a look at what you eat. Add more fruit and veggies. If you want to know about Pro-Stolic please contact me. Prescriptions and OTC drugs, no matter what they are, have side effects whether you feel/see them or not. Always try something that is a non-prescription or OTC alternative. These take a little longer to work but in the long run are better for your body.

try going for a walk. exercise release endorphins and give the body energy and a natural high. even if you can only walk for 10 minutes. caffiene is good but after some time your body gets used to the caffiene. make sure that you are keeping yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water. many people do not drink a lot of water and are not staying hydrated. when not hydrated this can make you tired. try a apple in the morning it is supposed to give you more energy than a cup of coffee.
