Hi!

I just recently bought my son a Nintendo DS Lite for his birthday in a couple of months, and I was wondering what are some of your son's favorite games to play? I am looking to start buying him some games, and wanted to pick some good ones that most kids enjoy playing. My son will be 6, and likes playing games in general, no particular favorites. Thanks so much for your help!

What can I do next?

My 6 yr old had a sonic hedgehog game he liked (I say had because he lost his games about a month ago-VERY sore subject here), Toy Story 3 was great, Lego Star Wars. He has played and enjoyed Mario Kart as well. One of his friends has the ZuZu pet game Kung Zu and he says it's "awesome".

My boys (6 and 8) both like the pokemon games and also the Lego games. There are lots of games out there that are related to the popular boys toys also. My oldest is into Bakugan and Beyblades and likes the DS games for them too.

Mario is great! My son also like Spiderman and Cars. If you buy used games at GameStop, he can try them out for a week and if he doesn't like them return for another game. That is a really nice way to try them out without wasting $30 a game!

My son is 4 almost 5 and he enjoys Spider-man Friend or Foe, but it was hard to find and I had to buy it used. There is a Monster Jam monster truck game he likes, too, which I also got used at Game Stop. I got a game called Touch Master for a good price at Kohl's and it is a mix of games that you use the stylus with. It kind of helps with hand eye coordination. I didn't know if he would like it, but it has a game where you shoot basketballs at a moving basketball goal, and another where you eliminate colored cubes by gathering as many of the same color as you can together. I have found the people at Game Stop to be pretty helpful and they have a return/buy back policy that is kind of nice in the event you get a game that you don't like or tire of quickly. I hope this helps.

My son is 7 and has a DS Lite too. Here's some games he likes:
Pokemon Black
Pokemon Guardians (not exactly sure on the name)
How to Train Your Dragon
Mario Kart

I have a DSi XL and he takes some of my games to play too:
Big Brain Academy
Cooking Mama
Lego Indiana Jones
Kirby

Sometimes we link or DSs together and we play Mario Kart against eachother or battle eachother on his Dragon game. He also wants a Club Penguin game for the DS.

I have a girl the same age, so I'm afraid her tastes are more girly (Barbie, Fashion Designer , Fancy Nancy, etc), she does really like the Alvin & the Chipmunks one though - I think that might be one boys would like? Anyway one thing I wanted to say is to take advantage of Gamestop - you can buy all sorts of games new or used and can trade them for other games if you end up not liking them - we often get our WII games there too :)

My son loves Mario Kart (8), but I also bought a game with "old fashioned" games on it and he has become a fan of Pac Man as well.

Good luck!
