Thanks for the head's up! I will definitely watch it with my son. He's 8 and VERY interested in 9/11.
I just saw an ad for a 9/11 kid special nick is going to be running....I didnt hear the date and time...But it is geared to help younger kids kind of understand 9/11.....Do you think you will watch it with your kids??
I think it is super cool they are running something like this:)

I don't think it's appropriate for kids who are too young to grasp the whole concept. But for 7 and older, I think it's a must. I am not sure if I will have my 5 year old watch. Probably not. I will have to look further into it. I think it is on at 9 PM on Sept. 1st. the time slot says a lot about the content.
I lived in Manhattan that horrible day. I happened to be home from work that day. It's important that we all understand what happened to not only the people who died but to everyone who still lives in the USA and all around the world.
My 7 y/o would love this!!! Thanks :)
I will check it out, too. My 8 year old would be interested. I'm not sure about the 5 yr olds. Thanks!
My DD is 3 and too young, I think.
I probably won't watch that one, but mostly because my kids are all older (13-18). I'm guessing it is geared toward the preteen and younger crowd.
I do however think it's a good idea, depending on your childs age. Under about 7-8 (maybe 5-6 depending on their maturity level) I don't think they'd fully grasp it all and the full significance of it.
JoW ... I'm not sure your younger kids even know that it did change them. How things are now is what's normal for them. The youngest definitely doesn't remember and the one who was two at the time probably only has vague memories if at all. It might be good for everyone if there was a discussion about what happened and how it did change each of you and how you cope now and have adjusted and moved forward in life.
We'd definitely be watching it (and still may ... ya never know in this house LOL) if my kids were younger tho. I too think it's important for kids to know about that day and the good and bad changes that have happened due to that event.
I don't know how old your kids are but I have a huge gap between my middle two. On 9/11 my two older ones were 13 and 11. Even though we live in the midwest it changed them. Not as much as this girl my son's age who's dad was in a tower but got out mind you.
My two little ones were 2 and six months to the day. It didn't change them, I am not sure I want them to understand why it changed their brother and sister, ya know?
I'll have to look into it. I think that would be good to watch!
